Locker is working :). Turned it on while on some dirt roads and you could feel it on the turns. Kinda addicting turning it on and off. The blow off sounds cool :p. Looks like we might be postponing the fishing trip until it isn't supposed to rain so if you guys want to meet up this weekend I would be down. Lets just avoid water crossings

I was just thinking that we should get a plan set up for the weekend. Only problem is that my stub shaft will likely come back next week...and then probably won't get it in till the weekend.

oooo right your still prerunner status..

well i have to play trumpet at church on freaking sunday..so..that kills like major plans anyways.

I just want to get out and drive the damn truck! enjoy my new torque..well..hopefully new torque..better be one hell of an improvement for all this work..and they better not explode..haha

Also i had a thought on why Joey's front died. If he still lurks around...I wonder if he did a good break in for it. Like if he drove around in 4wd for a long time before that trip.

    I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO!

    haha

    i wasn't kidding man..i have been there..twice..haha

the body swap was really a miracle for the time line i did it in.

But yea, motor takes a while, plus your talking about something that takes a lot of checking clearances which means a lot of pulling and installing of the motor.

donor truck would be ideal but then, you would just end up modding that truck only not your truck. it would become the race truck basically. which really, is fine.

Not sure. It didn't say anything about going in 4wd for the break in but I just put 4wd in on anytime I hit our dirt roads...not that it did anything with recent news .

Someone mentioned that new trucks don't come with broke in gears. It shouldn't be as big of a deal that people make it.

Nah bearing preload would have been checked. ANd both bearings would have been effected not just the external pinion which is the most starved one of oil to begin with. Add a diff drop and you rob it of even more oil flow.

But the diffs create MAJOR heat during their break in period. Thats why you drive it 10-20 miles and let it fully cool 2-4 times before making longer trips.

Driving around all the time in 4wd isn't normal so i wonder if he just forgot to leave it in 4wd.

You're supposed to put 500miles and swap oil before they are considered broke it.

Yea a fresh engine needs a lot of break in. Full flush at 100 500 1000 2500 miles on new motor. Gotta be nice to it till after 500.

You can have it boosted but very very low boost like 2-4 psi and you gotta keep your foot out of it for the most part. But you may as well have it turned to help break in the turbo and make sure its all running right.

Otherwise you'll have a long time to wait cause you'll just have to rewire the whole thing after turboing it

You kno damn well there will be a huge improvement. You would not have gone thru all this trouble unless that was a given.

Whats kool is, you will still be amazed at how much better it is.

    As for diff breaking...

Very, very, very important, especially for the rear. It takes all the load normally. I drove mine a 150 miles home from the shop. Put 5 heat cycles on it in that process. Also went over two passes. First heat cycle, stopped half way up the pass, the diff temp was 175*s. Let it cool down to about 80* before driving it again. At leach cycle, the temps were a little lower until I go home at it was at 130*. Whenever I check it now it is typically somewhere between 100-110*

Regarding, front diff break in. Almost impossible to do for most of us the live in the city. My diff builder said it was not as big a deal though. All I can say is, that mine seemed to break in just fine without any running around with it engaged.

Sounds like a pretty good deal. My company work truck is a beat-to-piss Ford F350 7.3 with a stick and a gooseneck that is literally falling to pieces. Yet my boss just hit a deer in his Cummins (not even that badly damaged) so he went out and bought himself a brand new one...Rich non-appreciative bastards.
