I really like the Sigma 19mm. Probably 150-200 depending on sales. You won't have a zoom but its never bugged me outside of wildlife. I really enjoy primes after using it and plan on adding the rest of the sigmas to my collection some time.

Sweet Josh! I've got nothing on lenses since i've got a canon and you've got a sony. But i'm just running the kit lens that came with my camera. works good if you ask me. Idk camera stuff is so subjective...

Yeah i agree it's probably tough to pinpoint one in particular when there's so many options. And everybodys taste and what they want out of their camera will be different. The Sigmas are looking nice though Gage. Option to zoom would be nice for some situations but i don't think it'd be a deal breaker.

Zoom is great IMO. If i was full pro i'd have a few primes and call it a day but i lik having just one lens...

I've never been one to use a zoom on a camera. Even on my point and shoot I just walked around. If you want you can hold off till Monday. I'll have my camera and you can get out and see if you like it. Its kinda like using your phone for shots. Its easy to position your body for the shot then bother zooming in on most cases. At least for me

^Agreed but when shooting birds and other things far enough away that are moving zoom is nice especially when you can't get closer because of a cliff...

Ya ultimately thats why I got a zoom. The prime worked great 90% of the time. Wildlife and fly fishing drove me to get a zoom but I rarely pull it out. The prime is also nice and small. I can put it in my jacket pocket with the camera body attached. The zoom...well haha no way.

Yea, depending on what you're willing to pack around... The 60D just finds a place now a days for me, if i was backpacking id probably get butthurt about it's size but even then it's worth it for me due to functionality and how comfortable i am with it. I don't like lots of lenses but will deal with more when the day comes i can afford more.

Just noticed that lol my photobucket spazzed out a couple weeks ago. Had to replace all the pictures on my build page:confused:

Quality-wise does one do better than the other? Or is the difference pretty minimal?

My sigma is more crisp than the zoom. They are faster too so you can shoot in lower light without using flash. The low light performance is noticeably different between the lenses I have.
