Yeah I've taken it up 14 a few times now, lots of fun to drive on the windy roads. Has a bit more body roll than I would like but I think that's Subarus way of keeping the driver a bit more on their toes. It does add some fun driver feel as well. That's one big thing I'll give the WRX. Right out of the box it's no formula 1 car but it's a very enjoyable car to drive. The way it corners, the feel of the turbo spooling and pushing you back in the seat, the boxer rumble...it's all just awesome and it puts a big fat smile on your face.

You have a pretty weird way of justifying whatever point you want to make.

You are comparing a $1000 purchase to a $25,000 one and trying to twist the numbers to make your point.

Using your logic...

A 20,000 car that gets 30+ mpgs will cost a minimum $500 a month to operate. This assumes you got an outstanding loan rate and your car payment is close to $300/mo. The remainder is for insurance and operating cost. If you use that car 25 days a month, the average cost per day is ~$20.

At $20 a pop, how many uses does it take for the RTT to be of equal value?

My Corolla did cost 20K and the payment is under $300/mo for 5 years. Insurance for it is $60/mo and fuel and maintenence cost averages about $100/mo, for a total of $450/mo or about $18/day.

At that rate I only have to use the RTT 55 times to equal the value of the car. I have certainly done that in the 3 seasons I've had it. The car still has 2 more years of payments and the RTT is paid for now, using your logic.

Also, there is no way, regardless of the car you choose, that your monthly costs will be $450/mo. Probably closer to a minimum of $600/mo. Your loan rate will be higher and your insurance will certainly be higher.
