Yeah, I was just pointing out your link was broke, but then mine broke too. haha. Apparently you can't just copy and paste TG links.

There is a guy in Pocatello with a 90's Toyota Pickup that is running 35's with 5.29's and changed his Tcase to 4.7 gears. It basically is a crawlbox.

I'm a little hesitant to want to swap to a gear driven case though, I hear they don't like speed, and aren't chain driven cases a lot stronger as well? You also lose the ability to shift on the fly as well don't you?

Gear drives are stronger, that's why they made the converter.

As for speed..no idea. I know the 4.7 gears are recommended because they spin so fast and wear faster I think, and cause more heat.

Not sure why you'd loose the ability to shift on the fly..can't shift to 4lo on the fly anyways.

I'll have to do some more reading, but I thought I had read that shifting on the fly (2H to 4H) was a benefit of the chain driven. Not that it's a big deal though. I wouldn't care at all if I had manual hubs, but our front ADD requires movement to engage.

Speaking of which, they said they include a fix for running the speedo in the Tcase, but what about for controlling the ADD since the Tcase will be swapped?

ADD has nothing to do with the tcase. That's the front diff. It's just a j shift tcase. Add won't change.

Think the speedo is directed towards us as that's where we get our speedo reading from. You don't.

Ahh could be for the 6speeds.

Even if shifting on the fly goes away..I dont see an issue. But that's me I guess

On 2nd gens, flipping the 4wd switch on the dash is what tells the ADD to engage. If you convert to a manual shift Tcase you lose that. RST came up with a kit to fix that, but I didn't notice trail gear mention it. Though they seem to marketing the Verso towards a solid axle swap, so maybe that is why they make no mention of the ADD. They do mention that you lose the 4wd lights on the dash though.

I imagine on a 1st gen, there is something in the Tcase that tells the ADD to engage as well that you may lose swapping to this Tcase setup.

    Also found this:
IF I INSTALL A VERSO™ GEAR DRIVE TRANSFER CASE INTO A 2005+ TACOMA, WILL 4WD WORK THE SAME?

No. The 4WD lights on your instrument panel will no longer work properly. Also, you will now need to come to a complete stop to shift into 4WD.

The manual trans 4x4's read from the Tcase. The auto's can be converted to read from the Tcase, which is another kit RST offers for guys doing solid axle swaps and are losing the wheel sensors.

On mine Tcase there is nothing. Just possibly a wiring thing as my add is vacuum. In which case just be a switch.

Interesting that you have to stop. Good to know.

Also speaking of the scar.. With winter here i'm gonna have a bit more free time to possibly make an attempt at pulling some of this dent out...keyword "Attempt"

How would any of you guys go about doing this? I sure as shit am not forking out 6 grand to have a shop do it. I don't intend for it to turn out beautifully (duh) but at least eliminate some of the crater.

Best idea i have so far is a big ass slide hammer and a come-along lol. It's just on such a shitty part of the cab i dont really know how else to go about it.
