    Have up to 50 miles or more. Really depends on the antenna tune. With DSTAR we could link repeaters and talk to you. I talk to my dad in Alaska from Missouri through dstar

    Some normal analog repeaters are linked to allow greater distance. But that is setup through the clubs that run them. So no not really.

    Sadly it is expensive..but I think it is worth it once you really get to see and use them. Very handy and SO much stuff you can do

    You can link some repeaters if they are set up with IRLP Internet Radio Linking Protocol. The one in Cody is set up with IRLP and there are lots more across the country. There is a little learning curve on how to use them which I haven't had to figure out yet. This was kind of the precursor to Dstar so it is available. There is a learning curve on Dstar also. But the learning and making it work is cool. I got conformation today that the repeater I ordered will becoming in a couple of months. :yes:
