Yeah, not sure if they are replacing everything or just the coils because of the rust. More than I expected them to do though. I might keep them around for a while but I will probably just sell them. I don't have much room to keep stacking parts haha.

Ill just leave everything as is. If the ORI's fail for some reason ill figure it out, if they hold up fine then I will sell them as they come.

I never posted pictures but I have some up in the CO trip report. Here is most of the group. I think there were 14 trucks total so that was pretty cool. Not much opportunities for photo ops. I was last truck the whole way through and I mostly was playing catch up. When we did stop I just snapped random pics from the hip. Worked out pretty well too.

I hate to sound dumb but what is this xrefector? I tried a google search and it comes up with some kind of a linking project I think. It is in foreign language I cant decide. I clicked on the United States link and didnt get much from it. I use to run an IRLP node and had a lot of fun with it. But was just wondering

    Well..yea..

It's part of ham radio is the short awnser..

The long awnser is it's the open version of online reflector servers for communication for the quad net. There are three others that my dad will explain in a minute.

Star net is the new one that links the three mains ones all together.

My dad and I are hams and trying to get more of the guys in here to get on board..but so far..no one has bitten.

    You a ham then??

    Haha you ass..

Seriously. There is no other system that will work as well on an international level. I can call my dad in prudoe bay Alaska from St. Louis. Can't do that with normal 2m/70cm analog ham. Have to do HiFi which costs even more then DSTAR and you have to know a lot more stuff.

YUP I am a HAM. N7NHS, has been my call sign since I was a tech many many years ago. I actually just dug out my old comet B-10 146/446 dual band antenna and am looking for a mount to put it on the truck this weekend if the weather holds out. I have a old yaesu radio that I use to run on my IRLP node about 10 years ago. Hopefully the radio still works LOL. I have actually been considering picking up a ICOM 706MKII with a yaesu ATAS100 motorized antenna. I use to run this setup in a S-10 truck I had and it was a blast to work the world from my truck. It only takes money LOL

Yea, be nice to take it out of the truck. I haven't had time to look up test dates or info yet so if you or your dad hear thru your ham buds about something near lander shoot me a text.

Did you switch letters around on your keyboard again? :cookiemonster:

    Nice man!

    I am KG7LSU

I run a icom 5100 and 51a. So does my dad. We use Dstar a lot mainly now. My dad has built our own dstar repeater and as you just saw got a reflector setup for us.

We have only been doing it since last spring. But it sure is fun!

    Haha damn ipad..

My dad can get a test arranged I bet. Knows enough of the people. I know grant has or at least should be studying. My dad wants him to get a hand held too like ours due to the GPS uses. I've used the handheld more then the big radio in the last few months myself..

But the big one is awesome too.

The test is so easy now. Just do a google search for the tests and study the questions and answers and you will pass. But it sure does help to kind of understand some of it. It really isnt that hard. Not to mention a kick in the pants to talk to people around the world. I remember my first HF 10 meter contact. I was in my ford truck sitting in front of my house in missoula. Getting ready to go to Spokane. I turned the radio (HR2510) on and heard this guy in japan. I answered his CQ and we talked for about 20 minutes. That was over 30 years ago Damn I am old

Those are motorized adjustable antennas probably. For HiFi.
