Shouldn't hurt it that much to never get in 5th. Even Frank before regear with 33s got into 5th all the time. Should also be doing way better than 13mpg. I could still get 15 on the high way on 33s with the roof rack..

i didn't mean it like that. The pelfrey kit is much better i think because of the things you mentioned.

If you just want better quality, just get some 9'' shocks and put them in the stock location. Something like what my dad has but maybe skip on the resi's even to save some cash. The ARB Locker makes up for the lack of travel.

The comeup winches look nice to me. But my Smitty has never let me down..it let down Mike though but i blame his install on that.

Winch for you would be more useful since you like being alone most the time anyways..rig wise that is.

 

He could always buy the ads bolt in cans to support air bumps in the future, seeing as how the gb is for the specific setup. I got it priced for $350 which would still end up cheaper than the pelfrey setup. Both are good setups though

Are you referring to morrison? What was wrong with the install?

 

What happened after? Did you replace it with a different brand or did the warranty take care of it?

 

I saw the comeup winch GB but they are still priced pretty high up there but reasonable if they are bulletproof (as bulletproof as winches get since they can all fail). How much have you used your winch? I can't imagine you had to use it much in the summer. I have only needed a winch a few times in the warmer months in the past 3 years and luckily I have been around someone with one or we could get me out with a tow strap. Most of the time it would be useful in the winter. Are winches affected by temperatures? Or should they all perform as well when it's -20? That would be a big factor in my decision.

You would be wrong. I have been abusing baby taco lately, the rear needs to be updated but it's not urgent as winter is coming and speed + snow = ditch.

That winch has always gotten me out of a jam whenever I have needed it. Ask him about the time it yanked his fat ass up and over poughkeepsie. It sure did fail there.

On Morrison it worked enough to keep me from falling off the cliff. Afterwards, I had to clean up 2 contacts in the contractor. A simple fix and has worked perfectly since.

If you have the extra money, go for one of those over priced warns. I really doubt you will get more winch for your money tho.

I don't think I would end up with a Warn regardless, to much money and the fanboys piss me off. The comeup winches seem to be getting a pretty solid following. I have read some horror stories on Pirate about smitty so I have been cautious. Those guys know how to destroy equipment...then rebuild it....destroy it again...and so on. My biggest fear is it not working when I need it or having them not honor the warranty and I end up buying another winch.

Seems to work for you guys though.

I used mine for that crazy ass snow recovery trip. Worked just fine...too good actually. Bent my front bumper haha

Heat is actually worse for winches. Especially with snyth line. The drums get super hot and can melt snyth line if winched too much. You should wrap the line that is on the first wrap around the drum. Conld generally doesn't kill winches. But can kill your battery faster..

I think id try a comeup winch if i bought a new one. But i got mine used for a great deal. Not as good as my dads warn..but still. He stole that thing. And he needs a 10k winch anyways. Maybe convince him to get a 10k one and give you his m8000
