I wrapped up my lift and tires yesterday. I still need to get my seized can bolts figured out, but I got it as close to aligned as I could till I get some more time.
Now I just need to start making some decisions on armor, I can't wait to get this out on the trails. I think I might try selling the shell that came with it to help fund a rtt.

 

Truck looks great! We need to get everyone together for a weekend and play in the snow.

So, I think I am just going to purchase a topper new and quit the waiting game hoping something used comes up. Lizzy and I have a few snowshoe trips planned and I want to be able to comfortably bring Ash and keep him out of the weather when on the road (he will be in an insulated kennel under the topper on the highway). The only problem is deciding between the softopper and a bestop super top. I am thinking of my dog at this point and can't help but think he would prefer the bestop since it has windows. They will probably be removed most of the summer and always in during the winter. He really enjoys just looking out the window when in the front seat. So when we are on trail or around town, and he is free to roam the bed, I think the windows would be great for him.

At the same time I prefer the looks and simplicity of a softopper. I would need to install a back up camera at some point but that's ok because I have been wanting to get a double din head unit . Until then I would just have to back into everything and be extra cautious when changing lanes.

 

Well we can do something over Christmas im sure. I wanna play! Since I don't have a blower to install I'm just gonna wheel Frank haha

I like the soft topper personally. The bestop uses zippers to remove the sides. I like how the soft topper just rolls up.

Widows are nice though. Tough choice.

 

I would be cautious of the windows on the Bestop too. The rear one on my Softopper cracked when it got really cold last winter. Not a huge deal but it's something to consider. I think the rear replacement for my Softopper is like $40-$50 so it's not a huge loss.

 

Yeah, I decided to go with the softopper. The windows would be a huge pain to deal with in the winter and softopper has the "doggy window" for the front which is awesome cause ash loves to pop his head in to say hi. The prices used to be fairly different but the bestop seems to cost just as much now days so might as well go with the "better" product. I just need the back up cam really and I would be fine. That was the hardest part when I had my old one. I couldn't even see out the back window on that one .

 

You'll be happy with it over the Bestop I think. Softoppers look more sleek IMO and I've had no issues with mine as far as ruggedness goes. Honestly after a couple seasons worth of wheeling trips the back window on mine is about worthless anyways from all the dirt and dust caked on it haha.

I have lol. But after so long those plastic windows eventually just get kinda nasty from the elements and such. A good hand wash would probably help but I haven't polished the turd in ages.

At least we are out there, doing some camping.

FWIW, we had the entire campground to ourselves. I guess we were the only ones foolish enough to brave the elements. After all, it did rain almost 6" in the 24 hours we were in the area.

 

Yup. Not going back on the truck tho.

 

Hey I would if I could. Actually went out with devin and romped a few dirt roads in Igor. And by romp I mean drive it faster and faster until I realize I am in fact not driving Frank and don't have mud tires or long travel and hit the brakes before I drive off the road haha wish I had the RTT. Having the fridge was nice though. Found the perfect way to secure it in the back with the seat belts haha

Did you guys camp or was it just a day ride? At least you were able to get out. And yeah, tires and no real skid plate protection kinda hold you back. haha

The redhead definitely looks awkward without the RTT. Be even weirder without the bed rack I'm sure. Going into haul to the dump mode for a couple weekends then the canopy will go on for winter.

 

Oh yea I bet it's super naked. Frank always looked weird as hell with no RTT.

No camping. Just a day and a 6 mile hike. The trail was covered with spider webs too. Was pretty uneventful. Tree tunnels and the top you could barely see out over the valley due to trees. But was nice to get out of the city. Looked like some cool logging roads to go back and explore on. But yea. No skids or sliders..might have to change that

 

Got that right Scoob is good. Got a pretty rad exhaust leak going on right now so I've been rocking the free noise gains lately

 

Peeps! Charcoal gray or black softopper? Or tan? I realllly like tan but would think it would class with the MGM. I am going to contact them about a group buy first but if they say no (betting on it) then I'll probably order this weekend.

 

Black. Matches the rest if the truck. Rims, bumpers, sliders...

 

Bumprr of the toytec 2016 is nice. Slim and simple. Truck looks good now.
