    I wondered if you had misread what I wrote. After seeing this last comment, I'm pretty certain you did.

    I was not referring to the carrier bearing. I was talking about the slip joint on the pinion end of the rear drive shaft. Maybe I miss called it. Slip yoke. How much play should there be between those splines. I'm thinking 1/8" is even too much.

    Ooohhhhhhh yea that is way way too much haha yea that should be pretty tight. Like within thousandths. Hard to measue as the play all along the drive shall since all the different shit makes it seem like there is a ton

    Yeah, to isolate the movement there, you gotta twist only between the pinion ujoint and the back of the drive shaft. I was able to, enough to see there is play. Maybe as much as .063". It was definitely visible.

    @m3bassman Ben, I was correct, your slip yoke/joint has gone way too long without grease. It may be too late. :notsure: Definitely should be on the watch list.

    Also, quite a bit of backlash between the pinion and the ring. I know there will always be some, but there was a lot more than mine has.

    Talked with G today from URD. He thinks maybe my 1 year old clutch got too hot when it slipped for some unknown reason and overheated the pressure plate springs. Or possibly bent the clutch fork.... Anywho....Trans has to be pulled but really do not want to have to go through pulling it again. HUGE PITA. So in the mean time i will be ordering another clutch and pressure plate for when the trans gets pulled and will replace what needs to be and return the rest. yay.

    Arby's? I haven't been to cody with the FRV in two weeks...haha I don't think it was me.

    You'd be suprised how much you can feel the backlash. But yours are much newer and usually get set .006-.010. Old gears are usually between .008-.016. Probably fine.

    Taking the tranny out blows big time. I'm gonna have to do mine again soon I think too. My TG one isn't doing so well I think.

    Yep. Did you have a lift for yours? I might see if I can use a guys shop near by on the weekend who has a lift when I need to do mine. I'll be putting in a OEM clutch too since its been a great clutch and I'm not boosted

    I did use a buddies lift but it was packed with snow then. So we were getting dripped on and couldn't get to top 2 bolts on tranny. 4wd trans/transfer is not lite. In other words it sucked. I think i would be willing to pay someone this time to do it.

    Haha yea I've thought about it. We'll see if I've got enough time to do it whenever that time rolls around. Gonna pick up a long impact extension to get those top two bolts on the trans in the meantime. @NYCO Posted a video once of the job, was good. Not sure where the link went.
