Wait, lets be clear here and not add confusion about the inner boots. I think we all agree that the inner, red boot is the way to go. I think I saw on your quote that the inner red high angle boot was $45 each.

Correct me if I an wrong, your question to them is only about your outer boot options. Is this correct? And those options are a standard boot and an OEM boot. Is this correct? Or are there actually 3 outer boot options? A standard one, and OEM one and a high angle one. Which of these outer boots are blue in color?

 

Ah, so this is starting to make more sense now. Mine are the neoprene option.

OEM is $60 extra, Blue Silicon (high angle) $35 extra, and the standard black(neoprene) are no additional cost.

This explains the cost differences between the quote you got and what I paid for mine. Does this answer all of the questions you have?

Inners tore on Frank

Go OEM outers. They don't tear near as often. Even on the lt axles they keep the OEM multi fin boots vs the 3 fin ones.

 

I don't agree. The OEM option for the outers is the most expensive ($60 each). If I wanted an upgrade, it would be to the blue silicon/high angle middle option ($35 each). Personally, I chose the neoprene outer. ($0 each).

Maybe they feel they need to offer a high angle option for the outers because some folks insist on running a full 3+" of IFS lift in front.

 

I bet the OEM boots are thicker.

I ignored it because I know nothing about 2nd gen Tacomas and 4th gen 4runners. Even tho Benjamin (yeti) thinks I do.
