Was that return label inside the box? I didn't see him put it in, only saw the box all sealed up.

Under the diff eh? Does the area around the pinion seal show signs of oil being thrown? Where on the diff are you seeing fresh oil?

Also, saw in the daily you were asking about part numbers for LBJ bolts. I am curious if your '01 model came with rubber protective skirts covering the sides of the bj?

My '02 has them but I know older ones don't. My '98 did not. FWIW, the ones I ordered the part number was 90119-10933. I just looked at my invoice.

I think I read that you said you ordered the other part number, 90080-10066, correct? That part number would be the ones to use if you do not have that protective rubber skirt dealie.

 

Is the rubber skirt helpful at all? I don't have any, but if it's worth it I may add it to my order when I get new bolts.

 

I assume it is there to prevent a stick poking accidentally a hole in the bj boot.

These rubber skirts do not come with new OEM LBJs tho you can order them, they are a seperate item. They are designed to be reused if you have them. Certainly, older trucks like yours did not come with them. You know Toyota, hard to predict sometimes which ones did and which didn't.

If you did not do the swap yourself, then the shop that did could have not reused the skirt as it was designed for but did they also reuse the original bolts? Those don't come with the replacement LBJs either?

 

The Toyota dealership would not have thrown away the skirts. If they were there, they would have reused them.

Are you certain they reused the original bolts? I'm pretty sure the FSM shows the bolts as non-reusable whereas the skirt is shown as reusable.

 

Thought I got new bolts with my ball joints..

 

I know I gave you a shitload of spares. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

 

Or maybe you are thinking of the one I traded for with you.
