Wyoming on Wednesday became the fourth state to allow citizens to carry concealed guns without a permit, with Gov. Matt Mead signing a bill into law as several other states considered similar action.

Good, although it's a kind of a Pyrrhic victory with Wyoming's population of fourteen and a half.

Take into account, this is coming from a canadian:

By why on earth would you ever need to conceal a gun? isn't one of the main defence arguements for this is as a deterent for people trying to rob or mug you? besides the regular proper usage of Gun in gun ranges, changing the channel on your tv, or hunting (I'm no expert, but i hear rifles are more effective, though i dont think bambi will care if your hiding a rifle in your pants or not). But when people SEE the gun they know not to mug you, it seems to me that hidding it would not deter them..

In Wyoming? There isn't any. It's 12 armed white ranchers.

But seriously, I love the state, but no one's there. Its numbers are gonna be in the basement on everything to begin with.

    God I love Canadians.

Although there are reasons why being able to conceal a firearm would be useful, the bigger issue is rights. In other words, many of us (myself included) feel it's none of the government's fucking business where or how I transport my weapons, in-pants or otherwise.

    We love you too ;)

see now if its a rights thing I understand completely, I would loose it if I was demanded to do something for no solid reason. The rights thing didn't cross my mind before my ranting... or before my 4th beer...

If I were a 'bad guy' with a gun who intended to shoot someone (gov official, ex girlfriend whoever) and I knew someone in the vicinity had a gun I would shoot them first to eliminate the threat. If I didnt know who was packing heat I would think twice about shooting anyone. Or I would shoot whoever I intended to shoot first. That would give the person packing the opportunity to eliminate me, the threat to him and anyone else. Think like criminal, it makes more sense.

This is coming from an American so...

What Canadians fail to realize is that if they were not geographically located right next to the #1 ass-kicking, gun-carrying U.S. of A., they would be some other country's bitch.

Also, the US tried to invade the north a long time ago didn't they? and we pushed them back south past the white house and burned it down if i remember correctly from high school social class..

    Quick Google search corrected me:

Canadians did NOT burn down the white house, because we did not exist as a country yet. That whole incident was part of the US versus britian war of 1812

    Riiiiiiiiiiiight

Just remember, it might've taken a little longer, but we earned our independence later for proving our combat skills in WW1.

Also, I'd like to see an American wrestle a Polar bear and win, In Canada, we raise them as pets.
