As long as you have a 5-lug and not a 4x4 or Prerunner

235/75/15's are 11% bigger than 245/40/18's so I would say they will clear.

    Really consider going bigger.

With the 245/40-18 on there, your speedo is going to read 65 (actually a bit higher) when you're only doing 62.
My 5-lug is already 3-5mph fast...

245/45-18 would be close to your stock 215's. Personally, I'd go with a 50 series to bring the speedo down a bit closer to reality.

The tires for the 4 cylinder 2wd are 215/70-15, not 215/75-15. I was just at the tire store.

Correct... that's what I based my calcs off of in recommending the 245/50-18

Ivel was using the 235/75-15 because we know they fit.

Unless you lower your truck, you are not going to rub on any low profile tire up to 245 or 255. The issue is mostly diameter. Guys doing off-road setups are going larger diameter than stock without needing to do more than remove the black boxes (which is not a big deal at all).

    Refer to this:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php

Your stock size tire is 215/70-15, which is about 27" tall.
We can easily fit 235/75-15 without rubbing, which is about 29" tall.

To get to a 29" tall tire on an 18" rim would require 235/60-18, or a 255/55-18.

245/50-18 is less than 1" taller than stock and will fit without a problem.
