Sweet! I think the TSS sensor itself maybe slightly thicker than that garnish piece though. I could be wrong though.

Can't wait to see your plans for protecting the front of it.

Just for reference for anyone who hasn't seen the back of the TRD garnish, its literally just a piece of flat plastic.

You gave me an idea when you said protect the front.

The L bracket could be an made out of plastic or acrylic and you could mount the sensor behind the plastic for protection.

    Something like this:

Grind and JB weld. I'd rather not put a hole in it that. And I know it won't be precise with my math. JB can be adjusted before it sets, and you know it'll stay on after.

Yeahhh! That would look great just judging by some of the pictures of the grill people have posted if its mounted behind the bars it would probably be almost invisible unless you knew it was there... Only thing I would be worried about is if it sits too far back it might either hit the plastic of the grill above it or the bottom edge of the grill below it. But I'm not sure how the sensor works or if it has to have a specific field of view above and below the sensor...

But it would 100% be worth testing out with anyone that has an 18'!

For the most part, it has been confirmed that plastic doesn't interfere with the signal. You cant block the signal with anything metal

Any pics on the install with the trim piece?? Looks real good with that. I personally would have painted it, but it's a great finishing touch

There were a few people with the TRD Pro grill that had the regular garnish pieces on their grill that made their sensor stop working, probably because it wasn't flat plastic.

But looking at how the Radar Cruise and Pre-Collision work it looks like the radar that's coming out of the grill is pushed straight out and not at an angle and the beam obviously widens the farther it goes. So as long as the sensor on the grill sits perfectly flat, it doesn't look like it should be an issue. I would still try and get someone with an 18' to test it out though to make sure.

The truck is a lease, I didn't want to paint it. I bought an additional trim piece and the sanding wheel I used bubbled the chrome when I went over it and turned into a nightmare. Working on stripping it still. Plus I couldn't decide on color matching, or flat black vs gloss black. The grille is an inbetween that doesn't match either one in my opinion (at least to my standards).

Needless to say, I wanted to see the grille on so I used the chrome for now. I think on white it isn't too bad. Any other truck RIP. For install buy dollar store butter knives. Fingers, screwdrivers, and gentle pliers all break tabs. Knives were the smoothest method.

Mine is at a buddies shop now, he is a painter for local dealership, spraying it flat black with a flat clear for protection, so it will match all the other black on my truck.

Seriously one of the nicest and professionally constructed grilla I've seen.
Do yourself a favor, don't get caught up in the Pro grill...get this...way nicer...

Looks great! And I’m guessing the TSS is working? Could you get some close ups of the tss mounted?

Not one issue w TSS. mine is actually mounted temporarily against the radiator support with zip ties. Fabricating a bracket hopefully this weekend and using clear lexan as a shield .

Havent had a chance to finalize the tss sensor bracket, but will hopefully have the acrylic mount ready to roll out soon. One of the members I've sold the grille to with a 2018 said he just mounted the sensor to a part of the radiator and it is working fine.
