X-Trek - Grille Insert Option

I got mine a while back from an online dealer for roughly $92. Cheapest I'd seen it and no one was posting them up in the marketplace. I want to say it was around the time Toyota had the 40% TRD sale because I got a pro shift knob at the same time.

 

If you're looking to save some cash just keep hunting on here in the for sale section or even try like offer up, craigslist, Facebook market place. Lot of people get the pro grille and give them away for free or very little sometimes.

Also looking like these will be shipping out hopefully as early as next week!

 

I don't know how that linked to Amazon. Google the part number and you can find it pretty cheap.

 

Okay so I found out that the new 2020 SR grille trim is slightly different than the 2016-2020 grille trim. The 2020 SR trim piece is slightly thinner and the grille insert doesn't quite fit the same as the grille will wiggle under the 2020+ trim piece.

If you do order a trim piece make sure it is from the 2016-2019 not on off a 2020.

The trim in the link appears to be the right one from the 2016-2019 models.

If you have a 2020 it's looking like you're going to need to get the correct one, but you're welcome to try it to see if you can live with it.

I don't want to cause any confusion just want to make sure customers get the right one.

The machine shop took a little longer than expected to get the meshes cut and bent but they are off to powder coating now and should be done by Monday or Tuesday of next week!

 

Are you sending out any non mesh orders in the meantime?

 

Most of the batch is complete but I have to wait for all of them to be complete before they are 100% ready to be shipped out.

Quick question as well, how do you recommend installing the toyota emblem that you recommend in post #1?

 

I have installed this before, about to install my second grille after a wreck messed up the first one . I took a dremel and sawed off the tab posts and then used JB weld to stick it to the grille. It was perfect. I didn't feel like trying to drill the holes perfect on the grille to stick the tabs into.

 

Yeh quite a few customers have used either 3M tape or epoxy to mount the emblem and don't seem to have any problems with it.

The most secure way to mount it in my opinion is to center the badge, mark where the holes are, then drill the holes and epoxy the badge's pegs from the backside.

I think both will work but just depends on your personal preference.

 

e. just put in my pre-order (probably just in time!) for 2017 grill with mesh and the vinyl sticker. will it be possible to remove the mesh if i dont like the look? and also, the vinyl sticker will be in the box, not installed on the grill correct?

 

What’s the update on shipping the mesh 2019 versions?

 

Awesome thank you for the order.

The mesh and the grille are separate so you if you change your mind down the road you can always take the mesh out but it does look pretty slick and gives you the capability to add raptor lights, TRD badges, front camera, and other accessories to the grille.

The vinyl sticker does not come installed on the grille.

Getting very close the meshes are going to be done being powder coated either today or tomorrow.

 

Any way to get the lettering in different colors?

 

Great looking grill. What material is used for the mesh?

 

Right now I'm not ready for more colors yet, just going to be white.

However, there are a few guys on eBay that make different color vinyl for the letters of the FJ Toyota Badge that you can just apply directly to the grille or get the badge and put the vinyl letters over it.

I love these!! If I had a 3rd Gen I woukd buy it. Do you have anything for the 1st gen, that would fit a 95? Also does anyone know of a site or someone making something similar for 1st gens?
