Good idea and thanks for the input. Just a little hard to find rain in Southern California hahaha I'll have to pour some water on it.

I think I have found a solution though.

If there was a rubber grommet or some kind of spacer between the acrylic and the sensor the water wouldn't get trapped or build up between the sensor and the acrylic rather it would just fall/drain downwards.

Also getting closer on the group order I'm going to do some more R and D on this mesh and will hopefully have an idea of what these will cost.

Hey Travis! I've been lurking on the forum for a couple of months now, and decided to finally make an account to let you know how awesome I think the grille looks. Excellent work! I'm definitely thinking about going in on the group buy.

Also, I'd like to offer my truck for R&D if the other two guys fall through. I live in Torrance, though, so I'm a bit further away from OC.

One last thing, I was wondering if you've thought about designing the same grille which accommodates the Toyota "three rings" emblem with TSS instead of the "TOYOTA" emblem. I'd be interested to know how feasible it would be to design and make that, as well as how many others might be interested in buying one. Again, if you could use my "rings" emblem with TSS for design or R&D just let me know.

    Best regards,
    Brendan

@brendo Welcome to Tacomaworld! That's awesome thank you so much for the compliments! I'm sure you will be glad you made an account, it's well worth it. I might take you up on the offer I have another guy with an 18 who is closer but you never know it doesn't hurt to keep you in mind thanks for the offer I'll reach out if I need it.

As far as making the Toyota three rings logo fit on the grille, it's not a bad idea but to make that happen would not really be feasible unless I made a new one. What might be an option is to just find a way to accommodate the three ring logo into the current grille, not sure how but with some tinkering could probably figure out an option.

Also here's a rough prototype of the mesh, you can see the square where the TSS could go.

I'm thinking that a piece of plastic or thin sheet of acrylic would be behind the mesh to protect the sensor. This could also function as a mount to the metal mesh.

I would definitely be in if there was a option for the 3 ring badge. I just like that logo. I have a 17', so I don't have the sensor. I know it would be too much to make a whole now grille to accommodate the 3 ring badge, but maybe something could be done or added to make it flow well on the current grille? I think it would look pretty freaking sweet!

Hoping this group buy comes together soon! Im hoping for a 18 friendly plug and play with powdercaoted mesh for a good price. Im itching to purchase a new grille and dont want to fall victim to a faux pro grille

Because Toyota has done studies, and the general buying public likes chrome. They think it adds "sophistication". They are dumb.

Look no more I will be pooling together the group order very soon. Also got some ball park quotes on the mesh, will likely be around $30 bucks on the group order for a powder-coated mesh. Anyone else want in at this price let me know soon!

@jordeezy looking clean! Making me want to black out my headlights now.

I'll have to bow out. My Mrs. actually likes the cheese grater, but is accepting my insistence that I paint it flat black with a color matching emblem. Thanks for the follow up though, I appreciate it.

I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on this grille. I keep sending them to this thread, so hopefully I make up for my spot.

So far the pricing is looking like the grille itself would be $195 shipped and plus about $30 if you want the mesh.

I've had a decent amount of people with the 16's and 17's want the mesh as well but don't want it to have a hole in it.

To keep things simple and to avoid reprograming a water-jet/laser cutter for two different patterns, would anyone with an 18 care if the mesh didn't have the hole cut out for the TSS and just did it themselves?

I tried cutting the mesh with your average household wire cutters and it was super easy to cut by hand in no time. I'd still provide the hardware to mount the TSS bracket. If you have an 18 all you'd have to do is cut about a 4inch by 4 inch square in the mesh and bolt the sensor to the mesh.

I’m interested in the group buy. I have a 2016, do any of the options apply?
