Wow, great info man. Was it a shop like a Gamestop or some kind of local shop?
I would use Netflix and online gaming, prob alot.

I think and should go with what I want, a xbox. As long as I take care of it and keep it cool, I shouldn't have any problems. I might be a used one actually.

Btw, I love this forum...you guys are so helpfull!

I've been though two xboxs. The new ones are supposed to have better cooling. I miss the original xbox, I couldn't kill that thing no matter what happened to it.

Man when I got the xbox (I was in the 5th grade) that thing got dropped so many times and my friend put in the games/cds in wrong, just so much I was amazed it still worked. When I got the 360 within a year I got the red ring then I got another and before finals last year it crapped out. right now I have the black one (elite I think) and haven't had any problems since, fingers crossed. To be honest even if it did I would get another just because of the games.

Sweet man. You guys convinced me to go with an xbox. Tomorrow I plan to look around and get some more info and see where I can get the cheapest price and such. When I do get one, I'll have my fingers crossed everyday I turn that thing on...lol.

I'm not a fan of Gamestop. Every time I have attempted to trade a game in they only wanted to give me change or a dollar or two, I keep all my games in mint condition and they where all very popular games. I get my stuff from a local shop, wont buy game stuff from anywhere else now.

If you get the Xbox, go head and get Xbox Live. It's worth every single penny. Online multiplayer is awesome. Also, most cell phone wired headsets will work with an Xbox 360 Controller as the headset for live. I got a $8 cell phone headset that works perfectly instead of a $20 "Xbox" headset.

Keep the Xbox out of any tight cabinets or anywhere that there isn't a lot of air flow. Also, the external "coolers" they sell at places like Gamestop and Walmart will do more good than bad. The 360 isn't designed to run USB power to something like that and will cause it to overheat.

For Xbox live I have an old laptop running a network bridge, so I use the Wifi from the laptop to give an Ethernet connection to my 360. Recently I took an old laptop cooling pad and put it under my 360 and have it powered by my laptop, so whenever I get online it has the extra air flow to keep it cool.

My 360 is about to get modded. Going to custom cut and paint the casing with the Crimson Omen (my avatar) logo from Gears of War and add a few LED lights as well as a capture card to record my online playing.

I love Gears of War. If you get a 360, make sure you pick up Gears of War 3 comes out. When I had the beta it was without a doubt the most fun I've ever had on a video game.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
Xbox: Better feel for the controller. I find playing online for Xbox more enjoyable mostly due to majority of my friends having Xbox. I don't like paying to play online. Never had red rings but knew of many friends that have. I haven't heard anything about the new systems having the red ring problem though.

PS3: Blu-ray, Free online play, internet browsing...don't really use my PS3

I own both and bought the Xbox 1st. I honestly think it really comes down to the Blu-ray, paying to play online, and the variety of games. Controller style may also play a role. If it came down to starting over I'd get an Xbox to due my friends. Isn't that one of the reasons we get them? To play with your buddies.

*Edit* PS3 also also doe not come with a headset to play online. Though you can use a bluetooth headset meant for your phone...

Yeah, I know gamestop sucks for trading games and such in...there a joke but figured I'd check them out for the xbox. And I see, so if I plan to run a fan I'll run it from another power source and not the xbox. I plan on getting an xbox now and ofcourse I'll be getting online...no questions about it and I don't mind paying for it.

Sounds like your xbox will be sick once it's done...good luck with it man! And Gears Of War is on my list of games I want...the trailer looks killer. Thanks for the info man!

Excatly. And the majority of my friends have an xbox...actually I only know one person that has a PS3 and I don't really like him so probably wouldn't play with him, lol.

from what i understand, the new style XBox doesn't get RROD..

I've had my elite for several years, and its not given me any problems. The new models come with a built it wireless card (you have to buy it seperate if you get the older model), and I think theres some packages that have Kinect with it, if your interested in that.

I've played several multiplayer games on PS3, and IMO they're network doesn't seem as stable as XBox Live. On Black Ops, there are several dropped games, and server disconnects, and at times its difficult to get into a match.

And theres that whole PSN got hacked and was down for a couple weeks thing..:D

i have an xbox and have had it for a good amount of years and everything still works great. I personally have had both and the 360 by far would be better especially if a lot of your buddies have one for online. Also a couple months back the playstation network got hacked and millions of people's id was in jeopardy..but that could happen with any electronic device these days. :fenforcer:

    Black Headlight, Foglight always on,
I've had a PS3 first for about 2 years, Blue ray drive went out, I've had my Xbox360 now for almost 2 year's and have had no problems with it, although i do like the ps3's build and features more xbox has a better online experience... ps3 everyone can get online free so it makes it kinda crappy in a way.
