    Afternoon all,

I threw some new wheels (275/70R18, XD series 18s) on the wife's tacoma yesterday and am a bit leery of the studs.

This is an unlifted, stock TRD Sport suspension.

The problem is the lug nuts (purchased local from a truck outfitter) are open back and you can clearly see the studs barely reach halfway up the nut.

I've done lots of research here and elsewhere and understand I can put in new, longer studs or get extended thread nuts.

My question is are extended lug nuts "enough" or should I see I seriously consider swapping to longer studs? Or is what I have sufficient or a safety risk?

[Edit:] yes I've read the sticky and multiple threads on longer studs and ET nuts. I'm leaning towards the easy answer but lots of folks seem biased against ET nuts...but many folks still seem to use them. Im trying to get a smarter person than me to look at my specific application and tell me whats best.

    Thoughts?
