Rigid SR 20" LED Light bar, Pelfreybuilt Front Plate Bumper Ordered. Looking at Rear Plate Bumpers now.
I am not a fan of XM nor do I like the, #1. Holes in my roof caused by the XM Fin. and #2. The Look of the fin on my roof.
I did some research to make sure the Fin was only associated with XM then:

Turned the clothes hooks at the rear of my headlined counter clockwise to remove them.

I then removed the drivers side seat belt trim piece and rear door catch trim piece in order to get the headliner down. I appologize for not taking pics as I went.

After fin removal I applied a coulpe of layers of Clearbra materal to seal the hole. I will make a blank plate when I have the time.

I think I had better keep it for the next owner.

I'm not a big fan of the fin and thought about doing that.

I like my shark fin. The 2013's do not have them. That's actually how I tell now that the 13's are out. Saw one this morning with the dealer paper plates and no shark fin = 2013!

The rounded antenna housing was changed to a sharkfin in 2012. I thought it also housed the GPS and cellular antennas (for nav and Entune)?

About two years ago I called XM and paid for a 6 month service "only". The woman said that it would be no problem to do that. At the end of the 6 months I noticed that they had charged my credit card again and had slammed me ino another 6 month agreement. They refused to refund my $$. I was super pissed off and swore that I would never use them again and never have anything associated with the brand attached to my cars.
The other thing was how annoying it was to have the music cut in and out every time I drove under a tree or went through a tunnel, etc.

After I bought my truck XM called me repeatedly asking if I wanted to sign up for service. I told them no and told them never to contact me again. Finally after about six weeks the calls finally stopped. XM can go to hell.

Every time I get a new car this happens. I get just as frustrated as you. I really can't understand how they got such a foothold in the auto industry. I guess living in a place with good radio reception has jaded me. I can imagine that if you live in a rural area XM must be great to have at least as a choice.

XM as a choice is a good thing. As a consumer of services, I'm glad it is available. I personally can't bring myself to justify the cost for the service though. If their pricing was competitive with the likes of Pandora, I'd sign up today. When and if they ever figure that out maybe I'll be a customer.

I too have wondered how they have made that foothold in the auto industry. Perhaps it was a business deal with the luster of the promise of profit sharing?

funny, I have a 2012 as well and didn't mind the fin until one windy day I had my soft trifold tonneau cover unhatched while I was loading some things into my truck. I had the tail gate down and the tonneau unlocked and a gust of wind took the tonneau, flipped it over the roof of the truck and cut a nice 4 inch hole where the shark fin struck.

So anyone got any tips for repairing a trifold soft extang?

The xm six month deal has to be canceled by the customer prior to the renewal date or it automatically renews. I have the same thing, expires in November so I'm canceling in October.

I think xm got their foothold because they have been the only satellite radio option. Why not pair up with auto makers! My wife just bought a 2012 Honda CRV which has pandora instead of xm.

I thought I would like xm a lot more than I do. I'd much rather listen to what I want, when I want. Big deal, no commercials and they can say fuck on the radio. I'm over it. Haven't used it in weeks.

    Sorry to whine but...

All of the reality shows on TV with every other word being "FUCK"(bleeped out of course). You still know exactly what they are saying and the writers of course script it in. If the FCC was being REAL they would fine them for every time they have to bleep out an obviously deliberate "FUCK".

I'm a radio surfer. I surf for the best song between three or four local stations and usually change stations when ever they go to a cluster of commercials.
I agree in regard to never really feeling like I got my moneys worth after paying for XM/Sirius
