xm antenna issue

hey guys, I have been having a lot of trouble xm radio not working, no signal in my 16 OR. Does anyone know how to check the xm antenna or may have another solution? dealer wasn't too helpful

 

Do you have a roof rack or anything blocking it? What part of the world are you located in?

 

Try another dealer who wants some business

 

Need a lot more details. In city, lots of trees, tall buildings around, cutting in and out? Try to add more detail so we can understand your issue.

 

I have three vehicles with XM, two factory installed and one owner installed, I have been having trouble with all three doing a lot of searching and breaking lock. I have also noticed that areas that I received a good signal before, I no longer can get reception. I was thinking XM has reduced it's signal strength or re-positioned a satellite or whatever. I would interested if others are also having reception issues with XM.

 

I haven't noticed any difference in reception, from 2nd Gen to 3rd Gen. In the last year in the 3rd Gen, dead zones have remained pretty consistent, with trees and buildings being the main issue. Had the same issues in the 2nd Gen, so not sure on the satellite horizon change since I have not noticed a significant change.

 

thanks for the input, the issue is it doesnt matter where i am at, no signal, xm sends the activation signal, and nothing, i feel its a hardware problem either head unit or antenna,

 

Haven't had an issue with the Pro, but have with another vehicle with XM, same thing you describe.

 

Call the XM people and see what they have to say about it
