To be fair, I'm including purchase price brand new in 1996, because mine is still technically a one owner.

    fuck... off... <3 lol

damn you.. i love it tho.. i need this sense of reasoning.

I only have half of this stuff due to the unfortunate circumstances of my Dad... hence the sentimental value..

I know I have been going back and forth.. but I think its better than just me pulling the trigger. I'm trying to figure this out and go about it reasonably..

I think its smarter to keep the truck, put a little more into it.. and get it to a point where im happy with it and dont need a new truck to make me happy. leather, black carpet, sound deadening, quiet the exhaust, etc.. best of both worlds then. built truck with all the goodies and sentimental value, plus the new features i want. only paying 200 a month is huge along with only owing 8k.

it will give me time to see how the new tacos do.. see if the fixes i implemented worked.. and go from there.

Practical reasoning right there! My ultimate goal is to make my overhead as low as possible, and have the freedom to do as I please. Been in the position of being over stretched on payments, and never want to be there again, that's for sure.. From what I can tell, you obviously love your truck, why else would this decision be so hard for you? So, I think with a minimal investment, you can easily get it to a point you're happy and before long, be driving a truck that you own free and clear... Vs being tied to a higher payment for the next 72 months..

I went by Right Toyota on my way home last night to check it out, and agree the interior is amazing.. Still on the fence about the grill bumper area but ultimately, my truck, like yours is almost paid off, and that is worth more than a fancy interior in my world. ;)

My 2cents, if you want the sc '15, you would need to move quickly to get what you want, if it's still available!
I would hold off buying a '16, generally speaking, the first model year has the most issues as they work the bugs and issues out!
Your truck has been a motivator for a lot of people, including me, just needs to have a few issues resolved...
I can tell you from experience, you'll regret selling it!
How about converting your trucks front end to the '12 and later style...

agreed.. the new interior is the most tempting part.. thats it really.

thanks man.. I dont care so much for the exterior.. i just really want to update the interior. REALLY.. i'd love to get a 12+ steering wheel.. but thats $$ and difficult. the black carpet, two tone leather, and some sound deadening should improve it greatly. thats the hopes anyway.

And just think about what you could do to your interior with just a fraction of the money you'll be saving by keeping your truck... Ooooohhhh the possibilities

I plan on stealing 2016 front seats as soon as I can. Also with some extra work you can change out your wheel for a Lexus GX470 and keep all your controls. I think you just need a new clock spring for a 4 runner.
In the future that's the caliber of rifle I'm looking to get hopefully an AR in that caliber, but first I want a truck gun rifle .308 Mossberg MVP or Ruger Scout have my eye.

Well shit, leather, carpet and a steering wheel wont be that bad at all. A little added sound deadening and you're all set... And in no time, paid off truck and money in the bank!

Personally, I think keeping your truck is the smart move. Money aside, you love that truck and have a lot of time, effort and sentiment in it.. Let them work out the bugs on this new engine, and in a few years, revisit. Based off the initial reports I'm seeing from other people, you're not the only one saying that power is lack luster.. Just think, if the power is shitty with stock tires, what will it be with a lift and bigger tires! And how will that engine react to bigger tires in the fuel economy? It's just marginally better than a stock 4.0 now. So with less power, my guess is the fuel economy will go straight to shit when you put some bigger tires on it

    duh.. :p

you think so? I was on that plan.. 16 or nothing.. but after driving them.. ehh..

I'd still rather have a 15 with a blower.. fresh start.. and still get my power vs the new 3.5.
