This makes me think that it's going to be even more gutless with bigger, heavier tires.. I'm not even thinking about buying one, but they offered me a test drive, so why the hell not. Gives me an excuse to leave the office early

I mean thats gonna happen with anything if you put larger, heavier tires on it.

auto.. I guarantee the manual isnt any better.. just like it isnt any better than the 2nd gen auto..

between the 3.5 and 6 speed tranny.. the truck is definitely geared more towards commuting and daily driving.. to be comfortable..etc. which isnt a bad thing.. i think they just went a little too far in that direction, and took away from the truck aspect of it.

Holy shit! 2016 is gutless! Such a slug off the line and needs to get well over 3500 rim before it goes anywhere.. interior, very nice. 3.5 engine, FAIL

Yeah man, you REALLY need to spin that engine up to get the truck to move, eliminating whatever fuel savings they are boasting. I was shocked at the complete lack of low end torque that engine has, not to mention the high pitch scream it makes, making me feel like I was driving a camry.

The interior and amenities are a win, absolutely but certainly not enough to make up for the total lack of power. You're right though, once you finally get up to cruising speed, it's fine, but getting there takes a minute. I don't even want to know how slow it'd be off the line with bigger tires.

It's a truck, so I don't expect it to be be a race car, but I would hope for a reasonable amount of bottom end torque. Oh well. I wasn't planning on getting one anyway, but now I'm even more convinced that you either need to keep your truck, or get a screaming deal on a 15.. BTW, Right Toyota had a white 15 TRD sport dcsb on the lot. Go steal that fucker if you really want a new truck

exactly. it just doesnt feel like a truck when driving it. it seemed delayed and like it was struggling to figure out what to do. perhaps the port vs direct injection gets confused when trying to gun it off the line. or it just cant think that quick to go from port to direct.. idk.. it just felt.. off.

im definitely gonna look into it.. a 15 that is. gonna talk to Riverview this weekend and see what they can do since they gave me the best deal on a trade in so far.. then compare to Right, Camelback, and Earnhardt.

Hit me up whenever you are ready. Once temps are below 100 its garage time again.

Couldn't agree more man. Like, you put the pedal to the floor, and nothing happens for a few seconds, then it makes a bunch of noise, meanwhile, the truck still isn't really moving.. I don't know, it's definitely weird and not so awesome. In this case, the carpet definitely doesn't match the drapes.. Big step backwards for Toyota in my opinion, and they just opened the door for Chevy/GMC to kick the shit out of them in the midsize market.

Yep, they really screwed the pooch on this one. There were a handful of other people test driving them, and almost every one had negative comments about the power, and the fact that it sounds like a 4 cylinder.. My plan has been to wait for a 2017 Ecoboost Raptor, UNLESS the Tacoma was a big improvement.. Well, now I know for sure what my next truck will be
