I made it!

Bought a used Traxxas trx4 that came with the Tamiya hardbody.. and built the bumpers, exo, restored the body, detailed, etc.

Here's when I first picked it up..

 

Drew up frame mounts for it in Solidworks to adapt the 3/16" steel bumpers to the frame.. hand formed all the steel. Drew up a skid in Solidworks too and had it all cut on the waterjet at work. Bent it to shape and had @Milota95 weld it all up for me .




Then started restoring the body. All new lenses and lighting. Windows, mirror, snorkel. Detailed the interior and painted the details on the body. New wheels and tires. And of course I had to paint the rings to match. Sanded down the imperfections and filled holes. Ground down and added real side markers/turn signals vs the original molded ones.







Working LED lights front and rear. Upgraded steering servo, upgraded esc, bunch of scale accessories.

First real wash since even before our trip to Colorado. lol

cleans up pretty good still for a soon to be 10 year old truck.

thanks man! cleanin it up kinda got that twinkle in my eye again.. lol

idk about the tires yet.. I could go both ways. i have about 5k on them and they chunk pretty good, pretty easily/quickly imo.. but, they do have some decent grip. road manners.. they seem to be a little on the meh side.. but thats no biggie to me personally. time will tell.. for the price.. I dont hate them.

 

Pretty similar to my experiences. But with 6k miles a year, they'll probably dry rot first

 

You lucky bastard. Lol I'm tired of spending money on tires and maintenance. Looking into options to resolve that tho.

 

Ya the DD is taking a beating. Bought it in early June and I’m sitting at 6300 miles. 7000 by next week pretty easily.

 

Nice! Worth it tho right? Saving those miles
