    Hey @YumaTRD

do you happen to know or even have a air cleaner intake tube? after poking around a bit online, looks like my pickup doesnt have the tube that goes from factory air cleaner inlet.. to somewhere near the grill on the driver side.

    pic from interwebz for reference.

mine ends right where this is circled. I dont have the tube from there to the grill to pull in fresh air.

also, ordered OEM waterpump, fan clutch, and thermostat. doing a coolant flush and replacing it all this weekend. next up when funds recover will be a carb rebuild and tune. then header and exhaust.

I don't have that part. I ditched it with all the additional intake hosing.

It seems like the engine I picked up has 20R series heads, so the headers wont swap over to the 22r.

bummer! all good tho. and figured it was a long shot since you converted.

Been reading and watching vids on the process for the water pump. seems pretty simple!

So the new waterpump I ordered comes with studs. so that should help tremendously vs the bolts that are in there currently. I just need the nuts, so I'll stop by Ace. researching the process for the whole thing, and seems pretty straight forward. any other pointers? going to remove the Rad after I drain it to gain more room.

You have to pull valve cover to check timing chain. If it's quite I wouldn't worry about it.

So made some progress on the minitruck yesterday. Going to finish it up today.

Pulled the thermostat to find it was an aftermarket one with no gasket and wasn't even seated correctly. so I picked up a new gasket for the new t-stat and installed it. Picked up new bolts and hardware for the new water pump and installed it as well. Cleaned up a bunch of stuff and noticed they had to modify these non OEM parts quite a bit. No wonder I was having issues with the fan clutch. Bolts instead of studs, shitty thermostat, ground down BS, etc. So much better having it all back to OEM and working. Just need to finish assembling and do a flush and fill. Then time for the 4" rear block to go in!

    Heads of bolts ground down..
    IMG_20181020_132416.jpg

Old t-stat was just using a paper gasket.. no rubber o-ring...

    IMG_20181020_145632.jpg

New water pump with studs vs the old without..

    IMG_20181020_161513.jpg

You can see where they cut the shaft down on the old water pump to fit the aftermarket fan clutch. The OEM fan clutch is recessed to fit over it..

T-stat and water pump in .

    IMG_20181020_165915.jpg

Blocks to go in after all this..
