So randomly did some inspecting on the Taco yesterday and found out the S/C coolant reservoir had ZERO flow. Pump works, has flow into the blower, then nothing returning. I'm thinking there's a crack in the intercooler or something, or a missing O-ring like how @StOrMyThEtAcO had on his.

Filled up the S/C Coolant reservoir and ran it a bit, seemed fine. Drove it to work today and checked again here. Seems fine. I'm still low on Vacuum, and after reading a bit this morning, I strongly believe my issue are the O-Rings on intercooler/lid.. just like Stormy had happen to his truck. It seems to be a somewhat common thing after poking around, and others mentioned having vacuum/boost leaks accompanying the disappearing coolant.

Tried pulling the intercooler lid and ran into a couple snags. Last time it went through a vacuum leak test and some were found, the lid was sealed using gasket maker. Well I could not for the life of me get the lid off, especially since I dont want to risk damaging the lid or anything else in the process. Also, at least 4 bolts of the 12 that secure the lid are stripped out on the blower side.

So.. I need to get the lid off, find and fix any leaks, cracks, missing O-Rings, only IF those are in fact the causes, and drill and tap the bolt holes on the blower for new bolts. I'm hoping once I do get the lid off, its an easy and noticeable fix for the vacuum leak/disappearing coolant.

Stopped by Rudd Performance (used to be All Out Tuning) in Tempe. Been trying to find a shop that was reputable and willing to work on the Taco. These guys seem like they might be it! Talked to them about the issues I'm having with the blower, the lid and intercooler especially, and some other general concerns and areas for improvement on the truck. They knew exactly what I was talking about when I was describing my issues and what I was looking for in the end. Plan is to have them do a solid once over on the truck, find anything that can be improved, like making me a new Y pipe with no cats for greater flow, diagnose and fix the intercooler issues, then work with me while I come up with these Billet S/C crank pulley's. Once all done, I'm finally hoping to finish it all off with a HP Tuner and a dyno tune sesh with them. Finally some proper performance tlc for the Taco!

Still need to get the Taco into the performance shop.. but have been held up with trying to finish up the lightweight pulley. Just need to slap it back together and drive it over. Hoping for next week.

Before that tho... Have some more big upgrades happening hopefully this weekend.

Got the Taco back together yesterday, then could not figure out why it wouldnt start. thought it was the battery as it checked low and had symptoms indicating it might be the battery. Well, this morning in the shower I remembered I pulled the ignition fuse under the dash.. lesson of the day.. dont stretch out projects, you forget what you did. lol truck turned over, but quickly realized I must have had the belt routed wrong, so back apart it comes tonight or tomorrow to correct it. THEN.. projects this weekend.. THEN to the shop. lol

Dropped it off at Rudd Performance yesterday. They are going to be finding and fixing my intercooler leak, repairing the stripped bolt holes on the manifold side, fixing any other vacuum leaks, and re-sealing it all back together with Toyota seals and gaskets. While its there, they are also deleting my rear cat finally for a more free flowing exhaust. After I pick it up, its back to the house for some other upgrades and start prepping for my new lightweight s/c crank pulley swap. I plan to replace my current crank pulley for an NST lightweight pulley, plus my lightweight pulley, then take it to have it HP Tuner tuned on the Dyno. :goingcrazy:

Having @JustDSM tune it should get you just as good as a shop, at a much more reasonable price. Then just pay to get it dyno'd. Unless you have it scheduled already?

Just a thought. Carry on brother! Excited for the results!

I've been weighing those options, I appreciate your input! I did mention to him there was a guy on our forum that has had great success. He said that works too. I just need to get the tuner first and go from there.

NST lightweight pulley's ordered. Crank, water pump, alternator, and S/C Crank.

Truck is still at the shop. Maybe the end of the week, possibly into next. No rush at all.

Then back home and install the bumper. Prep for pulley's. Then HP tuner.
