Appreciate it brotha! loving it so far! thanks again for the help. those Baja's work great too.. even with the new SAE compliance shield they have on em. I contacted Accutune, and they mentioned doing a re-valve over swapping to 700# springs. especially since I already have the 650#s. They sent me an article so I'll read up on that and go from there I suppose.

well.. after reading that article.. I'm still :notsure: lol

It does say 700# springs may work out nicely.. depending on vehicle setup obviously and desired ride quality. They also say 700's work for loaded down tacomas with bumper, winch, skids, rack, tent, etc. BUT.. that I could obtain the same improved ride quality and height with the appropriate flutter stack they provide.

@Rextinkleton93 @4Running Daily I know you guys have experience with re-valving.. any recommendations? Part of me wants to just through some 700s in there and call it a day.. as the ride quality isnt as important to me, and I'm so used to shit rides anyways. Would it still be beneficial to do a re-valve.. and if so, WITH new springs, or just in place of.

Well in theory, if you can get the ride height you need out of the 650lb springs without any coil bind, there isn’t really a reason to change. The ride will be controlled with the valving. You will need to measure and confirm that this won’t happen.

As far as the valving goes, there are always BIG improvements that can be made tuning your suspension (even on “stock” trucks like ours). A flutter stack is usually a good call on our trucks that don’t have bypasses. It will help cut out some of the chatter you get on the small bumps. I would imagine that after the flutter stepping up the shim thickness will help support the extra weight on those big hits.

IMO I would try their valving either way. Whatever they suggest isn’t going to be bad (I would hope). Assuming that they will sell you just the shim stack and they don’t need to be the ones to rebuild them.

If they will sell you just the stacks, ask them to zip tie all the stacks together the way that they would install them so we can just slide them right in and don’t have to mess with mic-ing them and putting them in the right order they want lol.

One thought on the new springs - if you do new springs we aren’t going to have an idea where to set preload. It will be trial and error until we get it, which means the shocks will have to come off and back on (unless you find a spring compressor that will fit while they are on the truck). Not a huge deal but if you have to take the shocks to a shop to use a good compressor that will be a bit of a pain.

What he said. If you can get the height you want without coil bind on uptravel, no reason to swap springs. I would recommend a revalve and see how she does. I think you'll be very impressed at how much better it feels after.

    You guys are awesome.

Ok, so figuring out coil bind.. guess thats my next step. If I can get away with just adjusting preload and adding new shims, that would be awesome and sounds like the best option. Taking them on and off wont be a deal breaker since its not my only mode of transportation.. doesnt mean its not going to be a pain, but I'm ok working around that. I'll reach out to Accutune again regarding if they provide just the stacks and their recommendation.

With my severe lack of knowledge, and at the cost of me sounding like an idiot.. I feel like if I added anymore preload on these 650s, that the coils will almost touch.

They did look close. Just need to measure is all. Either way the valving should be cheap but I’d definitely give it a shot.

Only snagged a couple pictures during our adventure over the weekend. The other taco in our convoy ended up grenading a wheel bearing on the highway headed north. Luckily we were close enough to an exit to limp it to safety, as well as being 10 minutes away from my family who came to the rescue.. again.. and we trailered the truck to my parents house where we had a bearing assembly waiting for us thanks to my Mom who ran into town to get it at 9pm. An hour later after getting it to my parents house, we rolled out at midnight, and were back on the road headed to camp. Ended up finding a spot around 5am. We did some cooold weather camping, had some awesome snowball fights, and just relaxed and enjoyed the scenery and company. First trip of the new year was interesting.
