I'm ok with it! Not many OGs/enthusiasts left so I like that you keep up with this old, but still very much loved truck.. lol

Liking the Jeep still? I gotta say.. a 392 Rubicon with some 74Weld portals has been in my mind alot lately.. lol

Oh yeah! I've thought about the 392, but then you have a 490-ish HP omish wagon, as opposed to the 285-ish HP omish wagon. And im good with the lower power wagon for now. I've been on a quest to find what tires work best for the off roading my wife and I do, and after 4 sets, I THINK I have landed on some winners. Recently had the Mickey Thompson Baja Legend EXP's installed, and so far I really like them. Tried the Yokohama Geolander MT's, and they would just sink in sand, rode like ass, and struggled on slick rock. Ridge Grapplers were good, but heavy, and the Wrangler Territory MT's picked up and held every smaller rock they could find. When I would hit pavement, my Jeep sounded like Michael J Fox walking in a tile hallway with tap shoes.

How loud are those EXPs compared to the g003’s?

I’ve been agonizing over my next set of tires between the Mickey EXPs or the Maxxis Razr ATs and I can’t make a decision.

I’ve run the Yoko mud terrains and General Grabber ATs but never a hybrid tire. It been kinda hard to find reviews on the EXPs.

Well.....As for sound, the EXP's are WAY quieter. My Geolander MT's were noisy biotches. As for ride quality, Its not an "Apples to Apples" comparison. My Geolander MT's were a Load Range E, Load Index 121. The EXP's are a Load Range D, Load Index 119. That being said, on my little Off Road Tire Test Loop (4 Peaks, and Butcher Jones), the EXP's were MUCH better in every situation. They give much more traction than my previous AT's (BFG KO 2's, Nitto Terra Grappler, Cooper AT3), and they seem to perform better than the Nitto Ridge Grapplers too, and they were a Load Range C. Another suprising thing thats never happened, is my Wife notice RIGHT off the bat too! This all being said, they are still kinda new, but I test all the tires I try within the first month of purchase, and on the same off road, street route, and PSI.

That’s a lot of excellent info, thanks so much for taking the time to write that up. I’ve been considering the Ridge Grapplers too although they’re number 3 on my list so it’s good to hear the EXPs are better in your opinion. Sounds to me like they are a good choice. Thanks again

Glad to help! The only issue I had with the Ridge Grapplers, was they seemed to wear down quickly. More so than other tires Ive tried. The EXP's have a 50k mile rating, although Ive never had a tire make it that long :anonymous: Frankley, the General Grabbers were on my list of consideration, but they were substantially heavier than the EXP's.

Yeah the Grabbers are pretty heavy, even my 265’s which are E rated weren’t that far from the 285 E rated g003’s I had in terms of weight.

The Maxxis AT is cheaper and has the 3PMS rating (plus the same 50K mile warranty) so I’ve been torn between that and the Mickey Thompson’s. Ugh decisions, decisions. I do a TON of highway driving in addition to off roading so it’s a huge mental process for me to pick new tires lol.

Im glad to hear someone else did a ton of research into them and thinks they are quality. Last question and then I promise I’ll stop derailing this thread…How are they on wet pavement? If you can speak to that yet.

I haven't been in much wet yet with them yet. They have similar siping as the Ridge Grapplers, so I don't expect them to be much different.

@chris4x4 I've really been impressed with these Mickey Baja Boss MTs... If those EXPs are anything like them materials/build wise.. not surprised you like em!

I thought I read somewhere in my rabbit hole of searching, that they were constructed similarly. Something about the Sidewalls being different in some way?

Maybe they don't use the same tech they use for the MTs as they don't NEED it. :notsure:

I meant different than other tire manufacturers.

They said the newer Mickey Thompson tires have softer sidewalls, but stronger, due to some new " technology" they use.
