ah you are right. I just assumed they had it. I think that may be why i ordered the 10.5 from front range as well.

Were you able to get 35 spline shafts with the 10.5?

Back on the D60 train I think as it checks all the boxes I'm looking for.. only downside is the loss of ground clearance.. but we're probably talking 1/2", 1" at most.

@zippsub9 Do you happen to still have those SOS rear disc brackets and stuff I saw you were selling awhile ago as I was doing more research. Also, couple questions..

ECGS got back to me and said they can absolutely credit my 3rd towards the D60. I mentioned to him that I was wanting to do a rear disc conversion at the same time and if they can help with that. He said he can ship it without the shafts installed and also mentioned a FJ/T4R conversion... which I thought that's what SOS, Stoptech, etc were doing (brackets with OEM calipers making a "kit"). Not sure if I need the shafts not installed to do a conversion or what method of conversion I should go with.

@nudavinci64 I know you have some experience as well.. any thoughts?

You have to remove the backing plates, which is probably what they were trying to help you out with. It really isn't that hard to do especially with it not being on the vehicle. You are correct with the T4R/FJ setup. SOS
sells bracketry to mount those calipers and backplate setup to support the inner mini drum parking brake setup if desired. I gave them away a long time ago, sorry about that. I pulled a full set off a Lexus at a junkyard. The only catch you may run into would involve the front calipers, but no issues if just dealing with the rears. It is a very straight forward setup. My previous issue involved clocking both ABS to the rear of the truck for "protection." However, they must remain in their current orientation to read properly for the TCU/ABS.

gotcha.. that makes sense, so there's no backing plates/no need to disassemble and reassemble since the shafts are out and no backing plates installed. I was a little confused on the parts required for the rear conversion, thinking I needed a special proprietary bracket or something to mate the two.. But you're saying I can just source all the 4runner components myself and install like it was going on a 4runner and be done. I already have the Wilwood BBK up front and have been running them for a couple years now. I would upgrade the MC at the same time as this rear conversion though too. Going to do the Parking Brake delete kit just to keep it easy and save some coin.

Just to clarify, the discs and calipers are all the same, but not sure if you can use OEM 4Runner bracketry. The SOS brackets are fairly inexpensive with parking brake and will easily bolt up to the Tacoma rear axle housing flange.

per ECGS.. so it seems its a direct bolt on process for the T4R rear disc conversion.

    upload_2024-11-13_10-36-37.png

I saw the SOS brackets.. I could also make some fairly easily. I just dont really use the Parking Brake and it would keep it more simple and cost effective during this venture by doing just the disc conversion without parking brake. I just want to make sure I understand it all before ordering so I can have it be prepped and ready without unnecessary dismantling or forgetting required components, etc. If I'm understanding correctly, it would just be order the ECGS D60 with my options and the shafts not installed.. then source T4R rotors, calipers, pads and lines.. and done.

Here's the catch. The Tacoma rear backing plate and T4R backing plate are not the same. You have to have some way to mount the caliper in the absence of the backing plate. The mounting bracket allows you to adapt a T4R caliper to a Tacoma axle housing flange. You can make them quite easily. I highly recommend deleting the parking brake. I only kept it because of state inspection requirements. It is a horrible design and actually sucks. It can easily be knocked off kilter and cause the shoes to cease against the small interal drum. What you want to do will be easy. Order everything for T4R, calipers and rotors then fab your own brackets.

see, thats what I've been trying to get from ECGS.. thank you.. that makes sense.

Unless he means they can do T4R backing plates as it does come with new ones...

So HolyHandGrenade sent the kit directly from SOS to them in NC. I think what ECGS is trying to articulate is, "any conversion kit designed for a Tacoma will work on their D60 since they utilize OEM Tacoma Axle Housing Flanges. There shouldn't be any issue with a kit bolting up to a stock Tacoma rear axle or their D60."
