ok i have an xrc8 and im looking to install a in cab switch as well as keep the hand controller....
winch is not inistalled all the time....."its in a carrier" just so u know
so i have it apart regreasing it now.
so i figured i would splice into the wiring on my bench....
3 wires i figure 1 is hot, and the other 2 send power to the in or out.....
    seems easy right... wrong....

    http://www.smittybilt.com/docs/installation/97281.pdf
    wiring diagram......for soleniod
all i did was tap in and add a red , yellow and a blue wire....
even thought i only think i need 2.....
when i test the switch i find that both in and out get power no matter what way you push the switch........
anyone have done this chime in.....
    here are some pics.....
here is switch on hand held

this is the backside of where handheld plugs into VVVVVV
    [IMG]

the wiring from there goes into here

.....then the white plug plugs into the wiring harness on the soleniod....... " would have been nice if they used the same colors through out entire circuit" but anyway....

i jump a hot wire i tracked from soleniod and test the other 2 terminals and they both get hot no matter if you press in or out.....
so then i try all possible combinations and none are correct
and i can find my continuity tester:mad:
and my multi meter dont have one built in......

ok so this sound confusing but here it is.....
yellow/green wire on switch is left on cover and is +
blue wire on switch is middle red on cover and is IN
brown/tan wire on switch is blue on cover and is OUT

now i apply 12 volts to + side and test switch and the other 2 terminal both get hot .... with the switch while pressing in or out.....
    hmmm
    wtf
    broken switch in handle idk.....

You could do what i did and just mount the solinoid in the cab..... Just another option. This was a X2O 10K install that I did with my elite plate bumper.

    thats alnmost what im doing
but i relocated my plugs to the bumer and have a switces in the cab...
all that is left is to splice to 2 or mabye 3 wires from new switch to the ones going to soleniod.......
    shouldnt be hard at all.....
but shitty built first changes colors of wires at every step " which is stupid"
and i just tested everything and im more confused then ever.....
should be press switch to in position = send power to soleniod..
press switch to out and send power to another terminal...
so im testing continuity on wires on stock switch and see when they energize a circuit......:goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy:

here is the connector from / on the soleniod
so here it is i belive
when tapping into the soleniod wires.....
    yellow/green is out
    blue is in
and red it was sends the current.....
    i think
    works out in theory
    if this makes sense
