Not defending anyone here, but I can tell you as someone who orders a lot of connectors, there have been sporadic delays is some of the Sumitomo stuff lately. Not sure why, but I see it with all of the suppliers I use. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. And on a somewhat more related note, I only ever talked to Mike once, to ask him about an SR option (I was working on a way to do an SR to OEM LED harness, and still plan on posting the plans for it here at some point) and wanted to make sure I wasn't stepping on any toes. He replied in a day or two, was really courteous, and we even talked about where to source parts. Seemed like an alright guy, but busy. Of course, one conversation isn't the best to judge a guys character on, but I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt.

I’m sick of hearing that. If the “Pandemic” will keep you from delivering what you promise on time or as described don’t promise or describe something you can’t deliver. It’s pretty much common sense.

As was already said. Just be upfront with your timelines and don’t take money from people if you can’t deliver as promised.

    It’s not rocket surgery...

Alright maybe a bit far fetched here...but I feel like this sentiment really just encourages businesses and fabricators to just not meet deadlines, knowing people will just throw up their hands and say "it is what it is." Now, I get there are a million things that can go wrong in the processes of making anything custom or not, especially in the current times. Supply chain is delayed, stock is depleted, you can't run production as efficiently if everyone has to be spaced out, etc. but at the end of the day it seems like OP just wants a simple email back so he has some kind of idea where his item is at. I get people are busy, but it's really not that hard to answer an email.

I am not sticking up for anybody for any reason. Timelines are stated and should be stuck too when possible. When those timelines are not able to be met, customers should be notified and taken care of at that point.
Unfortunately that's not the way it works. Nobody really wants to pay up front and have to wait 6 months for a product to arrive when 12 to 15 weeks has been stated, but that's just how it works out most of the time.
It may be hard for him to answer, when he may not have answers. "I don't know" does not exactly make the customer feel all warm and fuzzy.
I try not to judge until I've walked a mile in their shoes.

If you say you are gonna send the damn thing on Monday but you get delayed then you should send a notice that the shipment will be delayed. If you are in business you work for the customer. You call your boss, I hope, if you are gonna be late. Being late is not an option for me, Navy, but just trying to relate to normal life.

    A small observation for clarity:

Your original post was a firm position that you got screwed by an unscrupulous character that used deception to separate you from your hard earned dollars.

Let's assume that is 100% correct and the person is never going to send your item. That's completely on you. You were willing to commit fraud to cheat PayPal out of their money. So...

    Who is this Justin Case?!

    I have ordered from @xrunnerdude67
He has missed the time frame a couple of times, but had updated me pretty fast whenever i asked. His connectors work flawlessly and color coded for preschool level of easy.

That being said. He did recently have surgery on his hands.

Well I know who’s uses yelp!

dude, it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get something in 3 days after ordering online. Ya I get it, he said it would be quicker than It has been. That’s sucks

But good lord, I waited for 4 months for a stupid gardening chair for my wife because theYwere back order because of the pandemic and other scheduling issues with people who may be sick or waiting for tests.

I just had to miss a work while we waited for my wife’s covid text to come back (luckily she was negative so I could go back to work).

Amazon has clearly ruined your expectations. A solo operation isn't going to be pissing their pants and not eating lunch to fulfill your order by that night and have it shipped by the morning so you don’t have to be patient.

also, the customer is most definitely NOT always right.

but yes it would be nice if he would communicate better. I do agree there

I guess I shouldn't accept F&F anymore. Yes it is about saving the buyer a little $.

My list of people I have scammed is zero and will remain that way.

Not sure why I posted that, but I did get it off my chest.

The amount of people defending the sellers action is a bit unsettling. If an established armor vendor misses a quoted lead time, people are all up in arms saying "Communication is key, just an email would suffice but radio silence isn't ok."

This random joe shmo seller takes money right away and then nothing for 2 weeks. "Wow it's a pandemic, calm down." "It's probably a side gig." "This isn't Amazon."
