On the other hand, making a public thread in all caps calling someone out as a scammer with zero timeline details is kinda shitty too.

OP provided timeline details in his first reply to the thread.

    OP emailed seller.

    Seller immediately replied.

    OP sent $85.

Two weeks later and nothing more from seller.

That would been nice in the first post, instead of the blob of text 2 posts down, but you're right.

I agree, but OP admitted to being a bit heated when he wrote this so I can't blame him for missing some details. I know I'm guilty of that.

Man, if OP would have pre-ordered from KTJO 4X4 he would really be upset. :anonymous:

Communication is key and not that hard. Post on TW, "orders are backed up original timelines are going to be pushed back". No need to give new specific timelines for every order. "Update: another batch sent out"

While I agree that this seller SHOULD be better at running their business and keeping people updated on timelines. At the same time, maybe OP should wait longer than 2 weeks considering the state of the world, to start shit-mouthing someone as a scammer who, it seems others have had similar problems as well, but do end up getting their parts. I have no dog in this, but damn, a little heated?

More like, ‘I’ve waited 2 weeks when he said 3 days, I’m gonna try to make sure no one ever buys from this guy again.’ Or ‘I’m gonna try and ruin this guys gig selling these because I have had to wait for 11 days longer than he said.’

Maybe he could have posted “has anyone else had long timelines and no communication with this member?” In order to determine if he, indeed, was being scammed.

Not to mention; let’s say for arguments sake, he does get scammed in the end and never receives his part or his money back. Who went ahead and sent $85 through PayPal friends and family, to someone who wasn’t his friend or family, so they could save a couple bucks?:notsure: There IS a reason it’s called friends and family....

I agree with this 100%. A little bit of communication, which takes no time at all, does wonders for confidence and effectively gives the vendor more time without feeling they are losing support. Vendors are pretty horrible at this generally, save for a few that are extremely good at setting reasonable expectations and maintaining a line of contact throughout the process.

As a good example, I ordered my sliders 5 weeks ago, they were in stock (which is why I was willing to buy before BF sale time for a bit more). I have gotten one unsolicited email in that time and, at the time, it made me sympathetic to their "difficulties" with getting shipments out. Now, though, I am just annoyed and it is compounded by the fact that I could have ordered the same product with a BF price, and would be getting it in a couple weeks from now. Their communication has waned and I am starting to think they are waiting on a new shipment and that they sold mine to a local or something.

Email the seller....the seller answer back in no time allegedly... payment sent and weeks after no more communication...

I don't think it's right...you can answer rapidly but when people questions for the delay or lack of info you can't blame the buyer if the seller doesn't answer

When I sell I ask that the buyer use friends and family, OR add the additional 3% to pay as goods and services. I also feel like I have a pretty good track record and communication so there's that. This is not one sided it's both the Seller and Buyers fault.

I agree. Seller needs better communication and transparency of lead times. Buyer should beware in paying through f&f. I’m not saying it’s the buyers fault, but when you take that risk, you take that risk. Unfortunately. I just think a little bit of patience and a different approach than “DONT BUY, SCAMM!!!!”
would have been a better, more appropriate way of going about this.

I do want to build myself something like that.

I’m just curious is that all the working time? Or does that include the time waiting for orders, coordinating tools needed and waiting for potentially back order parts?

Because I can tell you right now, I used to get my orders from suppliers (different field) in a week almost exactly, pre pandemic, now, every single one of those vendors take 3 weeks. At the quickest.
    Hardware bolts & nuts.
    Lumber delivery’s
    Powder coating
    Electrical materials delivery.
Everything takes 2 weeks longer than before the pandemic.
    Just saying.

But why? In case it wasn't clear:

    OP emails seller

    Seller immediately replies

    OP sends money

OP sends various follow-up emails over the course of two weeks and not a single one went answered.

OP did nothing wrong here. Stop defending the seller. At best, it's horribly shitty business practices. At worst it's a scam.
