Roughly the same for me, had only 4 Toyotas as my personal vehicle over the last 30+ years. Do love my 3rd Gen. Pretty much only had eyes for Toyota over those years. Have been in and driving buddies F150-350s lately, sure do like them. First time ever have considered getting something else…almost went with a Ford instead of my 3G. Next time believe the decision will be a lot easier. Toyota axing the AC pretty much made that decision for me. Am sure they’ll have people lined up to take my place that is for certain. Loosing a handful of curmudgeons like me won’t matter much to their bottom line.

Probably need to stop hanging out in this forum, sure do like to bullshit though. ;) :D

Taking a couple of other people's hints.
Old people love writing letters to be delivered by pony express!

"I owned a 1991 xtra cab and then a 1997 xtra cab Tacoma. Currently I own a 2021 access cab Off-Road Tacoma. Regarding the 2024 Tacoma, I was pretty excited to think that I could purchase the new iForce hybrid drive train, 4x4, and upgraded suspension in an access cab 2024 with a 6 foot bed. This configuration fits in my garage and I can put a 6 foot cot in the back. Toyota information indicates that this configuration will not even be available? No access doors? No Sport or OR models that have the xtra cab configuration with a 6 foot bed? That does not make any sense. Again-- No iForce hybrid, and suspension offerings available with an Xtra-cab 2-door body and 6-foot bed? Or am I mistaken? In short, I am hoping that an xtra cab model (regardless of the doors) is available on higher trim levels. Thank you."

So far, nothing. I guess it takes days to craft a response?
Or maybe, just maybe, others have written similar things and they are having a manufacturing-marketing meeting to offer the new (and improved!) xtra cab on higher trim models.
(Who am I kidding?! )

Yeah, they probably called all their CEO's to jet into work and have an emergency meeting to honor our wishes. I still can't get over Toyota deleting the Access Cab................ You what is really important to me about the Taco (and now the Tundra) ? The composite bed..............THAT was an awesome idea.

Not too much to say about this response.
It is canned, but maybe since others have gotten a similar response we can hope that Toyota is gauging interest in trim upgrades with an Xtra cab?
The initial Tacoma release is still months away, and from what I understand the iForce hybrid will be in the wild early 2Q2024.

    Yeah, fairly animated response.

Was annoyed at first when I learned they shit canned the AC, over it now. Will have my ‘21 for years to come, and after driving my buds F150 5.0 V8, I’ll just move up to a full-size when the time comes. He has a Super Cab with the 6.5’ bed. It didn’t feel all that much bigger, but bigger in all the right places if that makes sense. Sure pulls 6X12 cargo trailer a hell of a lot better than my Tacoma that is for sure. That said still would like to test drive the 4th Gen just too see, might be a slim chance of my getting a DCLB…still think the Tundra or any other full-size is the better option for me. Kinda out growing the Tacoma. Great for running around town and weekend trips, sucks on long distance with all the crap I carry.

Could also get rid of the rear doors of the double cab altogether if it can’t pass a crash test…probably wouldn’t sell many trucks then if they weren’t legal passenger vehicles.

This is killing my want to upgrade from my 2009 TRD Offroad Access Cab vibe big time.

The suicide doors are everything for me, I love them...and this grade is limited to models that are of no interest to me.

To get the features I want I'm forced to consider paying more for stuff I don't need!

    Ugh, just ugh.

Posting again to add (just finished paying for some service at Toyota) that the technician here advised me not to buy the 2024 (too many new parts, let it sort out) and that the 2024 will be priced somewhere between 60-80g here in Canada.

    Ouch

Does anyone remember what happened to used prices when Toyota killed the Regular Cab around 2015? Did Regular Cab used prices go up, down or stay about the same? Just trying to get a feel on if history might repeat itself now that the Access Cab is going away.

They’re such a small number of the total sales that you probably won’t see much movement. The upward pressure from rarity will likely be offset by the fact that most people don’t actually want them

Aside from fleets, the sales numbers are very low compared to double cabs. You’ll note I didn’t say “nobody wants them,” but “most people don’t”

same goes for manual trans. There’s not much of a sales premium despite rarity

Yep. I am in the retail business, reduce inventory or stop carrying the products that don’t sell well even if you only still sell a few.

Though Toyota does make buying a manual harder to buy, so they might be pushing the sales trend. “Most” manual drivers like it because it is a little cheaper for the initial purchase, plus cheaper to maintain/repair in the long run over an auto. Usually only have to do a clutch, at the dealer that is $1500, where-as a new AT transmission is around $3500-4000 to replace.

I wanted a manual, but Toyota would push me into a Sport to get it, that is a $3-4K upcharge, plus another couple grand to get the sport to where I like it. Wasn’t worth it to me. The auto has grown on me, but still prefer a manual.

The XtraCab with leaf springs also get the lowest payload. Plus no manual available with the smaller cab? XtraCab Manual are Tacoma heritage.
