If they took the doors they added the pop-out windows back right?!

I like the utility package interior (no jump seats) but I'm much happier with being able to access the space with my access doors.

    Utility space = less cost
    No doors = less cost
Solid rear window = less cost

Let's hope that's reflected in pricing and not just more margin

So I’m not a tradesman, so I’ll defer to others. But I absolutely HATED tilting the front seat up and trying to get stuff out of my ‘98 Dakota and LOVE the opposite 1/2 doors on my ‘22 Tacoma. I totally get giving up on the useless back seats and maximizing storage. But wouldn’t the 3rd gen access cab doors make it easier to get your stuff out?

Glad I'm not alone on this one. I wanted to see the same vehicle available as my 18 TRD OR Access Cab. This is very disappointing.

Seems like a step backwards not to have rear doors on the access cab. I'm looking forward to Toyota's explanation on why they did this.

This was a hell of a shocker when I read it. I removed my back seats, but accessing cargo without the access cab doors would be a pain in the ass.
It's a terrible engineering decision that will prevent me from trading in my 2017. Maybe they'll come to their senses with future design refreshes.

Dang, no doors pretty much kills the new access cab for me - Tools, bees/beehives, dogs - all go in through the back 'doors' - really cuts down on the practical uses of the space. Guess I'll be in my AC/6MT for a while

When I originally bought my AC, it was because I would actually need those rear jump seats for very short trips due to work, but didn't need a back seat full time.

Now a back seat is apparently a premium commodity which is a bummer. Either a double cab Tacoma or Tundra at a minimum. I wasn't planning to replace my Tacoma with another Tacoma any ways, though.

Nope. No more easy access to cargo in back like with the Access cab. With the “Extra cab” the front seat slides up on rails and you have to reach “xtra” far back to get to your stuff. Wouldn’t want it and glad I have an Access Cab.

Yeah, lean forward and lift whatever you put behind the seats. What can be better for your back than leaning forward and lifting? Only turn while sitting, then lean and lift... Jeez Toyota, such a bright idea! Is this some sort of a conspiracy to push everybody into buying double cab?

Sternly written letter, to why in Hell they did away with the access cab. lol! A small handful of consumers that buy a low volume model are pissed! That will show ‘em! Haha!

In a couple of years they can point to the lack of sales for the Xtra-cab model and say "See, no one buys anything but Quad-cabs!", self-fulfilling.
Really surprised the MT made the cut, honestly.

I found an article on The Drive that states you can get the SR with 4x4, whether you can get it in the XtraCab is another question.
Here is the link to the article:

I guess I'll keep my 2019 SR. It has the rear doors that I constantly use and a normal KEY not the key fob crap. Boooooooo

Honestly, thought they were going axe the AC/XC altogether, surprised they even have an xtra cab. Basically neutered the AC, not even sure why they even bothered. Along with what you said, maybe to annoy people into a double cab? Dunno keep on looking at F150s Super Cab now.

That heavy set Toyota engineering guy doing the videos said Crash and Safety Tests were the reason. :notsure:
