Remove jump seats. Add dog platform. Add ARE DCU topper with camper mods.
I'd forgotten about that. Mid-Nevada urgent blasto stop - throw open suicide doors and sit on edge of door frame.

Ha! Never thought of that. Toyota forgot to promote that use case in their marketing materials!

Fricken Toyota, see I use the hell out of the clamshell doors. Had to make an emergency run to vet this morning.

World wide Corolla and RAV4 sales is what keeps Toyota afloat. Sure they sell a lot of Tacomas, it isn’t exactly their bread and butter. They also used to sell the Land Cruiser 200 here, that had laughable poor sales, they made a case for that, even talk of bringing it back, why??? to sell 3500/year of them if they are lucky? I am sure they could figure out how to get the AC to pass a crash test.[/QUOTE]

You forgot Camrys. They sell a shit ton of those too.
    Ask me how I know.

    Lol! Pretty much.

How to be a professional at work: Replace “fuck you!” with “ok great!” which is pretty much that return letter.

    It did thanks!

That and HiLuxes! 2WD utility trims. My wife saw a bunch while she was in Thailand, it is THE people mover. Wonder if this passes a crash test? ;)

It’s technically illegal to transport people in truck beds if they haven’t been properly modified, I’m not exactly sure what that means. I don’t think the Royal police know either, and I saw a lot of people riding around in Hilux beds on makeshift platforms and seats—especially in the country.

I know it is illegal there, but don’t think they enforce it. Hell, they don’t even care about drunk driving. They were in a fender bender where a drunk guy hit them, the police tried to blame my wife’s colleague. Took hours and hours to get out of that mess.

Had a running joke, since people tend to get really drunk in the evening and on through the night. Said to be off the road by drunk dark thirty.

That’s interesting, were you holding out for a 6MT? When I was looking for my 6MT DC all they had on the lots were ACs haha. But all auto.

If only 2 doors, just give us a regular cab and slap that extra foot on a 7ft bed with that new payload rating! I don’t think my ‘00 reg cab 2500 has another 18 years in her by the time I can get a 2 door taco again

Toyota has to pass crash regs for probably the next 8 years. While gen 3 AC passed current and recent crash tests, it doesn't mean it will in 5 years. In fact on the gen 3 model Toyota put so much space between the radiator and grill because they thought that was going to be a future requirement for crash tests. It wasn't, but when a company keeps a generation around for 8 to 10 years, you gotta keep in mind the future incoming regulations.

Same goes for small displacement turbos. For EPA testing small turbo engines emit less particulates than NA engines. That is why the market is going that way. This isn't speculation either. The lead Toyota engineer even admits that. If Toyota could sell you a V8 Access Cab with clamshell doors and small seats in the back, they would. That gotta play within the confines of regulators unfortunately.

They specifically said the xtracab will only be available with leaf springs and in the SR, SR5, and pre-runner configurations.
