I know the Yakima website recommends a minimum bar length of 58 in, but I found somebody selling used Q towers with round bars that are 48 in anybody ever tried this to see if they will fit the cab?

Ugh, that's mighty short. I'd recommend going longer, you can always cut them down if you decide you don't want them that length. I've got the 66" bars and am happy with them; I've had two boats and two bikes up there, a boat a bike and a Yakima Space Booster, a coffee table, etc. I like being able to hang stuff like a Solar Shower or light off the bar end while in camp as well.

I am happy with the length - I got em free - and I don’t like the protruding look of the longer bars -
but that said, I don’t have the Tacoma specific clips.
With the clips I have the towers are tight but I think proper clips will allow the door rubber to seal better. At present I hear wind noise from the clip area.
So I ask, do you have the proper clips? If so, do you still get clip-area noise? Thx

My rack is on my shell, no idea how much noise it creates but I do have a spoiler thing on it since I got it cheap. I reread the OP's post and realized he said cab, not cap; I guess I read it wrong since it's in the covers, caps and shells forum. Yeah, I'd probably go a bit shorter on the cab myself but I'd have to figure out how much available space I wanted.
