I am going to try Landing pad 25 for BMW. The are in stock. They "look" identical to the 24s and close enough may just be fine. I think if they need a bit of customization that will be ok. I'll need different bolts but that's easy. Not waiting until summer to maybe get some 24s. This isn't rocket science. If it works or if it doesn't, I'll report back.

You're seriously doing gods work out there, I can't wait to hear back from you! I honestly can't believe they aren't making them faster. Who's smart idea back at Yakima HQ was to run like one batch at the release? It's some plastic, rubber, and hardware...not like it's some hyper complicated product that should be impacted by the pandemic.

I have LandingPad 11 on my hatchback. i might take them off, and try to use them for the truck, but my bars are way too short.

One thing to note is that the Yakima instructions want you to
use the rear hole (on the front) and the front hole (on the rear) if that makes sense. i think because those are in the flatter part (more in the middle) of the roof?

which makes better sense if you are using the bladed type bars/ doesn't matter much for the round bars.

Call Yakima Customer Service, they are supper helpful in picking out something that will work. The pad might look the same, but the bolt hole might not line up correctly, that is what the issue is for the LP 11.

It is also what allows the correct gap between the posts to fit the Lock n Load and other accessories. Some don't adjust all that great.

This was my concern when I saw the requirement to use specific holes. I am planning on using a load warrior and I am hoping yakima thought about the spacing. I am planning to run it in stealth mode (ie with the mounting brackets for the crossbars upside down) to get the rack as close as possible to the truck cab roof and I need the brackets at a specific spacing for the rack to fit with my light bar. Update coming soon I hope.

OK, so the LP25 for BMW experiment is (so-far) a success. With a change of direction - literally - spinning the pads 180, everything lined up and the bolt went in straight.
I picked this LP partly because it comes with a second set of pads for flat roof installation and I thought if needed, I could cut and customize those to get where I wanted to be. The rear pads worked perfectly. The front pads are a bit canted outward due to following the ditch line. I'm not sure how this will effect the final process of mounting the HD bars. I do believe I can loosen, slightly pivot the LP and tighten to the right angle but it may require a little modification of the landing pad that rests against the outside of the ditch wall. Of course I still have to wait until the middle of March to get HD bar adapters to finish this project. So-far-so-good, it's a work in progress. ALSO because the bolts that come with this set-up are M7, and the bolts for the Tacoma are M6 (50mm) I used 1/4 X .5" nylon bushings to sleeve the hole in the LP taking away any slop. They fit perfectly. - see photos.01.jpg02.jpg03.jpg04.jpg

It looks incredible! It honestly looks like it was designed for the truck after your modifications!

What and how do you attach stuff to these "landing pads"? Looks very professional!

Or the control towers (discontinued). use the towers to mount cross bars and use the crossbars to mount whatever.

Well, finally got all the pieces. Installed and without any further modification. Everything is tight and solid. I'd say great success but I haven't put a load on it yet. I'd say LP25 is a good fix if you're not into waiting till May or June for new inventory.IMG_6780.jpgIMG_6781.jpg

great writeup. perfect timing too...I'm in the market for just such a rack. What length bars? I like the slight overhang.

I bought the 60" HD bars because they were the only size available from e-trailer.com but I cut them down to 54" because I don't like them longer than I need. I don't plan on changing out the landing pads.
I will say the "howl" sound from what seems to be the front bar is pretty noticeable. Mainly at slower speeds, 35 - 45 but I did order a wind fairing for it. I'm not sure I'm going to abide by the look of the thing. But if I don't I have another car it will happily be installed on. I'll post a photo when it's on the truck.

Here is the cab with the wind deflector. Also one thing to note if going with the HD crossbars, you may find that the 4 pack of bar adapters are back ordered, you can just order this one - #8880637 and buy them individually, they are the same. DSC_1177.jpg

wind deflector should make big difference in noise. absolute must for round bars. and i think any bar up near the windshield. maybe not as bad if you get the aero crossbar.

I forgot to mention, I stuffed 1/4 fuel line in the bottom channel of the HD bar and that took away the whistle. The Howl should diminish substantially after this fairing addition.
