Fluid will always accumulate at the low point where it drips off the bottom of whatever structure it's on. chances that the leak is from that same place is very low. Without cleaning it up that whole area of the drivetrain from the top down and then inspecting frequently, you are just wasting time trying to diagnose the leak source.

    What's the engine oil level?

Did you do the oil change yourself?

If you plan to use the warranty coverage I would take this to the dealer ASAP to get it documented. If fluid levels are ok, they might clean it up and ask you to bring it back after a short drive or the next day, etc.

Yes I did the oil change. I checked the oil level and it was higher than the indicator.

If you over serviced the oil I wouldn't think it could be the problem on this engine unless you put like double the capacity in or something. That said, I am not familiar enough with this engine to know where the oil would egress at. It looks pretty clean, which probably rules out draining the transmission and adding oil to an already full engine, but worth double checking?

quick update. Toyota dealership called and said a gasket/seal needed to be changed out in the transfer case. Covered by warranty just as you said too. Thanks for the advice and help on this thread!

I would 100 percent keep checking it for a few days. Dealership could just assume its leaking from the transfer case because they saw something similar to the pic you posted. Just to be safe.

Agreed. The circled component is the Transfer Case. Might the oil possibly be a messy job when draining meaning no leaks, just a poor job of controlling the drain?

I would think it might be caused by a bad job of controlling the "pour" of the new oil.

Touche'. Could be that as well. I think the pouring of new oil is more likely. Thanks!

Good deal. Shit happens. I’m glad it’s getting fixed under warranty. Better you caught this now.
