HID is fine. HID in a halogen assembly is what sucks. Projectors aren't expensive.

HID without proper headlight assemblies is stupid.

Kelvin (the K in 6k) is a color scale. 5-6k is your best bet for usable light.

buy a projector and use 4300-6000k bulbs.

blue bulbs are for show and people who like to blind THEMSELVES.............blue is irritating to the eye, including the drivers

Plus theretrofitsource always run amazing deals on black Friday, if you can wait. Can get a kit really cheap. Dooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiiiit;) you'll never regret it.

Edit: with generic hid kits you always run the risk of something failing. Hear it all the time. A few guys who work with me all got some and they all had problems. That's not to say you won't with theretrofitsource because there are some incidents. But they have amazing customer service and great warranties.

I hate to rave on, but since everyone's going at it... Everyone I pass that has bright blue 8k or higher pnp hid kits in halogen housings, I ALWAYS blind them. With ALL my led light bars and projectors. They wanna show off, so why can't I!?:D They don't care about blinding people with bright blue floods so I don't mind returning the favor and give them a taste of my ~45k combined lumens.
And don't hate, I'm a little more cautious with this than I lead on.. I don't wanna cause an accident;)

Another thing to note, is you can however get the higher Kelvin bulbs in projectors. Trs doesn't offer anything higher than 6k. I am 'ok' with that being done. I do NOT suggest doing it though because the light output is horrid. Ask me I tried;) But it is possible and it will not blind other drivers if in projectors. Unless of course they leave their high beams on with bixenons then it's even worse than pnp kits. Had this happen to me one night. Guy in a Ford Raptor. I blinded his ass not knowing they were projectors. Thought they were halogens. Then when he flipped his high beam off being bixenons I realized they were that. But still did not feel bad for him:D I personally think they look sick. But for show use only. I have 5k bulbs and they are perfect. And you get the nice color flicker anyways so they appear bluish/purple to oncomers. Much better effect I think.

Guilty here with flipping on the light bars! Some people just dont learn.

Retrofit or dont go HID's. Some Sylvania Xtravisions wouldnt be a bad idea though if you want more usable light and dont want to spend the money. Silverstars are a waste of money though.

Upgraded halogens are a lot better than they were 10 years ago. That's where I'd go.
