My pleasure man. I ain't going anywhere anytime soon, so hit me up if you run into any questions I might be able to help with.

I think that sounds like a really solid plan to get you headed down the road.

idk why, your double cab is a lot cleaner than mine :)

I spent the afternoon washing and waxing it (didn't even get it all done lol) and got reacquainted with each little ding, gouge and rock chip. But that is quite alright because she ain't meant to be fancy!

Hey man, sorry to bother you with more questions lol but I’m having trouble finding these parts for the trans and tcase. I have found the tcase front flange and tcase input shaft seal on yotashop but can’t seem to find the others. Was wondering if you happened to write down the part numbers for the rest?
If not no worries dude, I’ll keep doing my research:cheers:

No worries at all mate! I have just been busy most weekends out exploring and stuff. So sorry it has taken a few to get back with you.

Regarding the part numbers, I don't have them specifically. But I can show you how I found them (teach a man to fish if you will) :)

So head over to https://partsouq.com/ and put a vin number that has the equipment you're looking to re-seal. Once you enter the vin number it will give you a bunch of different part diagrams that are interactive with part numbers and usually even pictures of the parts. There will be different categories of parts on the left side.

Just need to find the correct one (likely power train) and then find the diagram for the transmission/t-case. Then you can find the specific seal you are looking for and click the number associated with it on the diagram. This will pop a box up with the part number and often a little camera icon. If you click that icon you can see a picture of the seal in the package.

Then drop that part number into mcgeorgetoyota or whatever you prefer and bobs your uncle!

Let me know if you have issues or can't find them, I can dig them up for you worst case, just time is tight for me right now.

Also, make sure and get some FIPG for gear oil on txfer/transmission because some of those seals are behind bearing retainer covers and such. Easy to do but gotta make sure and re-seal it correctly :)

So I’ve been quasi-following some of your posts...

do you have a transfer case issue and if so, have you figured it out

That depends on your definition of "issue". :D

I purchased a used JDM R150F off of E-Bay. It came from a 4-Runner (at least I believe it did) Turns out the seller I bought from wasn't the best and long story short I ended up getting a large portion of the money I paid returned. What I believe to be happening is that I got a runner t-case that requires an actuator for some portion of the functions. But it was sold as a J-shift non actuated model.

So now as to why it matters as to your definition of "issue"... One of the many reasons I built this truck the way I did is reliability and fall-backs. I am a Systems Reliability Engineer by trade so some of this is just habit and the rest is years of experience driving literally over 1M miles on and off-road. I have manual locking hubs so while I don't have a proper 2-Hi, with the hubs unlocked I accomplish the same thing, though spinning the front CV's and diff all the while :(

So this config works fine, I've put nearly 2k miles on it in this configuration. However I won't be leaving it this way. I am taking some time to evaluate my options as they relate to transfer cases while I work on other projects for the vehicle, namely project "flat-ass". I will either replace with another t-case (V1FA, Tacoma, J-Shift) or go really out in left field again (unlikely) and go with a converter and lefty setup / dual case.

Also I use the absolute shit out of 2-Lo off-road :D:cool:

I might have to do the gravy wire mod.

And if I do the swap (with your in-person help of course ) I’m just gonna buy the exact parts no matter how much it hurts the wallet.

Also, 4-lo in the auto sucks donkey balls. In the 5MT I can slow crawl up and down anything just using the gas pedal. Never have to use brakes. In the auto I was riding the brakes as if I was in 4-hi.

Yeah always the best course of action if possible. Buying locally can help a lot with that also as you can put hands on it before purchase and make sure it's right.

That is really good to know about the auto and man does that suck. Makes me so happy to have the manual because yeah I couldn't agree more. I climbed up and down some really steep shit weekend before last and used either 1st or 2nd gear and in low range and never used the brakes. Felt extremely in control the entire time and that combo'd with the Cooper STT Pro's air'd down and holy shit my face hurt from grinning all day :D

Will be adding a trip report for that trip, the one before it and also the building of my 12v solar setup in the build thread. Want to get that stuff documented before starting on the flatbed in the next few days...

Awesome, thank you. Honestly I appreciate you sharing that site over just the numbers and appreciate you taking your time to share your knowledge man.
Honestly at this point you should get paid for the time you’ve put into this write up lol. Maybe when I make it out west, you, @Madjik_Man, and I could meet up and buy you a couple beers for all the knowledge you provided for us haha. Hope you get the T-case sorted out, awesome that you got some money back from the deal.
Im sure I’ll end up asking another question once I tear into the swap but I’ll just keep a beer tally hah

That's awesome man. Yeah I've used that site to completely rebuild a starter and build the entire clutch pedal system from scratch. It's fantastic and the pics have been crazy helpful sometimes. Little items like fender and grill clips soany uses.

Another cool bit of info. If you find yourself in a situation and need a Toyota part quickly and you have prime check Amazon. They often have them with free two day shipping at the same or cheaper than dealer. That has saved my butt a few times during my build. In full disclosure I work for Amazon and own a fair bit of their stock, but this is personal advice. It's important I'm clear on that.
