Coming soon: Compact powered sub install Future mods planned: bigger tires (265/75/16) BILLSTIEN 5100 lift
I'm looking at lifts seems like the financial part is good to go very soon.

Originally I was just thinking I'd get some 5100s set on clip 4 with the stock springs. But I seen that some think that will make the truck ride rough.

I don't plan any extreme off road driving. Just forest trails and maybe some green trails at the off road park. Still going to daily drive it. I'm going to be towing a pop up camper with it. So probably stay safe around 2" maybe no more of lift.

What I'm looking at for my SR5 4x4 is
    At headstrong off road.
    1. billstien kit with 5100s and 885 or 887 coils. Not sure if I'd go with Add a leaf or 1" spacer.

    2. Eibach kit set at level 1 for like 2" of lift.
Same deal with the rear add leaf or 1" block?

I'm going to switch to 265/75 AT tires too don't want to go bigger for towing an fuel economy and power and don't want to open the regear can of worms.

I'm really looking for some insight on how these will ride.

Both are great kits, I'm running the Eibach kit, 1st notch with the Icon 1.5" AAL in the back with 265/70/17 tires. Rides better than stock and hasn't changed my mpg at all.

You don't need any lift for your use or tire size.

Since it's just for looks, you have the option to leave it alone.

Will save $. May save a few headaches

If the popup creates too much sag for you, airbags are a non invasive solution.

So far the Eibach kit sounds good. And it's a little more affordable. Unfortunately sold out currently but waiting is not an issue.

Bill's suggestion that it's mostly for looks is somewhat true. i could also try the 265/75r16 tires first. Either way I'd buy them.

The camper isn't that heavy so not sure about sagging. I'm going out with it tomorrow for the first time behind the truck, my last camping was with the Jeep just before I got the tuck so I'll have to see how that works.

I got my lift solely for looks. What can I say, a 2" lift looks really good on these trucks.

My old Liberty CRD had a 2" all OME lift. I liked it like that. Definitely think the Tacoma will look better too.

    So comparing the 2.
ome/Bilstein kit with 887s and Dever AAL is $861.99

Eibach is $809 with the AAL.
    $50 isn't that great of a difference.
Seems Like Aqualoon you feel like it has a good ride on the road? That's going to be where it's going to be most often too. So maybe I'll see if I get any sag with the camper tomorrow consider air bags if so. If not then get some new tires and likely go with Eibach.

I'm guessing new upper control arms aren't required with either kit set up.

I don't think you'll notice a big difference in how rough it rides as long as you stay with normal 4 ply tires. If you upgrade to class E tires, that's where you'll notice a huge difference.

I've installed toytech 2.0 aluma series on two trucks (mine and my fathers) and I have class E tires. Pretty rough hitting bumps. My dad has the same exact tire but 4 ply instead of my 10 ply. Riding his, I almost felt no difference from stock suspension as far as roughness goes.

    just my .02

Even if it is “just for looks” you are going to drive it, so make sure it is a suspension system you will be happy with. I use a digressive shock as it is superior for corners which I seam to encounter, well, just around every corner.

Wasn't planning on 10 ply tires. On it. Looking at regular 4 ply tires. Considering cooper Discoverer AT, Hancock dynapro ATM or maybe Hercules Terra Trac AT2. I've had good luck with several sets of the Hercules before.

As long as you stick with the normal 4ply I think you'll barely notice a difference with your new suspension. Good luck!

Awesome. Thanks. Let's hope I don't have to deal with a long back order. Probably just get the tires first.

Worse than if you ran billy 5100s at first clip.

Why are you lifting if you're not going to offroad and not trying to fit bigger tires. Lifts = headaches, I say this as someone with a 3" lift.

Not like I never plan to off road just not all the often. I'll admit it it's more for looks than function.

I just did this upgrade on my second gen - 265-75-16 rubbed pretty good in the front even after trimming. Just wanted to keep your expectations realistic.

Once I added 2" of lift with Bilstein 6112's it was fine, no rubbing.

    2" will fit your 265/75/17.

I've even had my lift entirely off with some BFG 265/75/16's (long story had a bad steering rack and wanted to get the dealer to pay for it so I took it off before I brought to the dealer. it didn't work unfortunately haha). Anyway I had no issues w/ that. But I don't suggest bigger tires with no lift. OP is adding one so I'd say he's good

This was on a 3rd gen which comes 1" higher* than 2nd gens. Just an FYI

I figured the third gens would be a bit different. It's minor trimming worst case. The bigger tire size makes a world of difference on the trucks appearance.

Agreed. Taller ones even give you a little more lift too. Looks so nice!
