    OP,

    Good luck!

Might be worth looking at the Toyota OEM lift kit. Yes, I know, there are other options that are out there that might be better but it could do what you want and keep your warranty, etc. Yes, I am aware there are all sorts of arguments against it but still not an unreasonable option considering what you are looking for:

Edit: I have a TRD 2020 OR and have plenty of lift and suspension for the kind of off road driving I am doing ... so no need for me to do a lift kit. But I will admit this has peaked my interest.

Imma just say it might be best to just got straight to 2” lift, 285’s and a cmc if your doing it for looks.

nothing wrong with doing it for looks and 2” lift and 285’s looks great

What exactly do you get in the TRD lift kit for the price. It just says about the struts, shocks and how much lift you get. Do you get any new coils?

I asked in the TRD lift thread and that kit that was suggested here above don't include new coils. It uses the stock ones and it seems preload to gain the lift. Plus extras like the pro grill which might me nice but don't know if I'd want.

I think I'm going to get some 265/75r16 tires in the next week or so to replace the 245/75r16 toyo open country all season tires first. I like the dark charcoal wheels I have so I'll keep them.

Then Im back to the Billy's with 885 or 887 coils
Or the Eibach. Might come down to available stock when the order is actually placed.

If you are not going off road extensively, do you need the new coils? Asking because I don't really know. You may want to ask @Paulndot as he just posted in another thread that he installed the OEM lift kit. HIs looks great. He can also speak to ride quality.

I think you've got the right plan OP. Put the new tires on first. They probably won't rub, but a 265/75 on a negative offset wheel can rub (stock wheels are usually fine).

Then throw the camper and weight in the back and watch your poor stock springs die. The stock leaf springs seem like the weak link in this truck. Measure your hub to fender after the new tires and before you load it up. This way you know how much sag you get.

Then you can make a well informed lift plan. You mightike the look up front with just the bigger tires and maybe just AAL in the back to support weight. Or maybe you decide to go full leaf pack in the back and something to match the front up nicely. Hard to know what you need until you see what you have.

Well today I'm going out with the camper stock wheel and tires. See what that's like. Add the new tires and see on the next trip how it works.

I'm staying with the stock wheels. The idea is to figure out how I'd really like it to get the best for most reasonable cost and appearance with out wasting time and $ on do overs.

I'm sure I'll post more as I change the truck and figure out the progression.

    A few.
So u think the 5100s on the 4th or even 5th notch will ride rough do ya? Have u heard anyone who recently had the trd lift installed complain about a rough ride? Did u realize the shocks in that trd lift are a toyota branded bilstein 5100 and there installed on the top notch to give the 2 inches of lift using the stock coils?

Actually it's been awhile since I've seen that complaint about the 5100 on the 5th notch. As of yet no complaining about the TRD lift.
That's why I'm going to think about it more and try different tires first to see how I like that change.

Here is how it looks hooked up with the camper. I hardy see much squat with it IMG_20210521_153807.jpg IMG_20210521_144005.jpg

Plenty of room with the stock tires on the back. I don't think 265/75 should be a problem.

I have 5100’s on the 3rd notch and a 1”block in the back. I think it rides as good as stock if not better. I have a sport so they right a little soft anyway. I’m going to go 4th notch soon to correct the lean. For $400 I can’t imagine a better lift. Only think I would do differently is to go AAL.

Well that's good news. I was thinking I'd have to spend more. I think if I remember 4th notch is about 1.5 inch of lift. Was thinking 1" rear Bock but maybe AAL is better.

I also messages Headstrong off road about 5100 avalibity. I was told they are only selling them in kits with springs right now because of the supply being low. So I'd have to go with that if I want to buy before the shortage is resolved, wait or find a different vendor. They are also 2-3 months backorder on their HS AAL too.

Got some new tires today. Moved up to Cooper discoverer at 256/75R16. I think this alone was a big improvement. The truck is looking much more like I want already. Collage 2021-05-28 20_06_14.jpg

I ran the 5100's on 887 springs for 20,000 or so miles. Not too bad of a ride. I put the 6112's on a while back and noticed a better highway ride. I would hold out for the 6112's. Same install process so it's just saving up a while longer for the parts. Just my 2 cents.

I will have to look those up. Might be worth waiting and saving a little more. I really don't plan on always off roading it but if I ever do I like to know it can do a bit of it.
One of the things I'd like to do in the next few years also is take a trip out west. I really want to visit some of the national parks in Utah and be able to make it to some of the places you can't go in just a car. I had a lifted Jeep SUV so I'm not new to this completely. For now I think the tire change was a good move in the direction I want go.
