Some dealerships/finance companies install trackers on vehicles.

I will ask my sale guy, see what he says it is. I can unplug it too, I have to go back in there to find the blue wire attached to the cargo switch.

Looks like the Smart Phone Control module for a Remote Start system. It uses an app to control the vehicle. It is sold by some of the vendors here including @N2DesignsInc

You should also have a remote start module somewhere installed if you have that device installed.

That's a smart phone control module.

    AR-3HU = 3G model
    VS-4LU = 4G/LTE model (latest and greatest)

Press your OEM fob's lock 3 times and wait, see if your vehicle start. If it does you have a remote start. Press the lock button 3 times again to stop the engine. They even went as far as putting the phone control. Go download "LinkR LT", "MyCar" or "CL6" from the app store (they all have identical interfaces), create a login, then add your vehicle in the app using the 16 digit code on sticker of this device. They may have placed the duplicate sticker on the door jamb too. If when you enter the 16 digit code it says "Already registered" then someone (stupid dealer didn't release the vehicle). Which means they have access to starting/stopping, locking and unlocking YOUR vehicle as well as GPS locate. If that's the case, give me the last 6 digits of the 16 digit code on the label and I'll have it released so that YOU CAN add it as YOURS and YOURS ONLY. Can you hunt down the remote starter it's connected to, as in brand? Follow it's cable, it'll be plugged right into it. HOPEFULLY they programmed it to the remote starter or else you'll (or they'll) have to do that too...

Hunt down what it's connected to. They aren't stand alone units, unless they're only used for GPS tracking (which is free, no subscription)...kind of like a low-jack, in which case you should still be able to use the GPS portion of the app to GPS locate it anytime you feel like keeping tabs on your vehicle when a spouse, teenage kid, or dealer keeps it over the weekend to do work (and ends up driving it for the weekend home) in which case you would screenshot it then show up on Monday demanding free lifetime oil changes!

I purchased my truck from Mac Haik Toyota in League City. The dealer installed "ELO GPS System" and I assume this is the device used to locate the vehicle whenever it's stolen.

@N2DesignsInc I wonder if this can be programed to also use as the cell module for those pts remote starters?

Let me look into this for you. If I verify it can, then you would just need the harness for it, and a remote start kit for the push to start.

Then disconnect whatever it's connected to, and use the new harness to connect to the remote start. PM me your 16 digit code on the module itself, and part number and I'll verify with the factory next week for you if it's a special model that is or isn't capable of what you're contemplating. From what I know, these are dumbed down, stripped basic versions of what we sell, only allowing GPS, speed tracking, and voltage. However, they SHOULD have given YOU registration access to be in control of it, not someone else. Here is more info:

    https://www.elogps.com/en/set-up/

The company's address is the same as the one that works/wholesales the other versions, or at-least next door to them...they all share walls at that address. These things are all the same, just private labeled and wholesaled through different distribution channels. Most do the remote stuff, some just the basic, which is what you have. This is still a data device because it pushes info about your car's speed, tracking, etc...I doubt the dealership is going to assume the subscription. Our subscription is $39.99 the whole year for a lot more than what this stripped down version of our product gives you, so I can't imagine it being more than that, if anything I would think less. And if it isn't, you should reconsider your options. Some insurance companies give up to $15/month discount for GPS trackers/Lowjack, so do the match, your product would be paid for after about a year from date of purchase at our $189 sale price. And then after the first free year, every 2.75 months of each year, will have paid for the $39.99 a year subscription. It's a no brainer.

The renewal is an in app purchase, nothing to do with us, but lowest in the industry for a 4G/LTE device. However, hopefully your dealer doesn't do what Lexus does and take our device and decide to be the middle man to collect the renewal $$$. They charge $367 to keep the app alive for the same thing you would directly pay the factory $39.99. That's robbery.

However, you would need to put a remote starter on first as these things when used to remote lock/unlock, start/stop engine, etc are NOT stand alone like the ELO GPS only modules.

I've PM'd you my cell in case you just want to text me the model brand, p/n and serial so I can look into it, and also if you want to chat about options or just have questions. I'd be happy to answer without the need to purchase anything from me. That's the forum side of help we all contribute around here, not my business side.

So the dealer can still track your vehicle after they sell it to you.....I guess it will help if they need to repo the vehicle.

I would make sure nothing else is connected to it and throw it in the trash.

About 10 years ago, my father and I picked up a pair of BMW 745il's from our repo friend. About a year into ownership, my father got a call on his phone from the FBI, turns out one of the cars was owned by a drug dealer and the FBI had a gps tracker installed in it. The FBI wanted it back, they sent out a tech to remove the whole thing and set the car back to stock.

Nope, mine didnt, but I got the one with tan seats... gross. BTW, if you have a friend in the repo business, you can get dirt cheap cars. We got the pair for $13k, then sold them about 2 years later for 10k each.

Dealer stops paying for tracking service once it's sold to you, they don't care. It's an in active piece of hardware. Why don't you put something on that lets YOU track it the same way in real time. The consumer version we sell looks identical...and gives you remote start/stop, lock/unlock, battery voltage in addition the GPS locate...just saying. Don't rely on the dealer to track it in that situation because that's considered invasion of privacy if they admit they can find IF they continue to pay for a service that does them no benefit based on what you just said above.

    upload_2019-9-29_20-15-49.jpg

This part is the same view the dealer had (also a part of the smart phone app)

    upload_2019-9-29_20-16-38.jpg

You do need the fob remote start module before you could add this on (if you want to utilize the engine start/stop, lock/unlock portions).
