Hi from just outside Portland, OR,
    Just bought a 2018 Tacoma SR5 4x4 Access Cab V6 auto.
It is being ferried by the dealer as I write this. I should pick it up today or tomorrow.

I am coming off a 1999 Mercury Cougar in excellent shape. I do all my own work.
I also had a 1984 Nissan King Cab 720 Pickup until last year when i gave up on it at 238,000 mi.
It has been tough not having a truck and the cougar is almost 20 yrs old so Taco was the solution.

I tend to do maintenance/repair and keep things fairly stock. Been a long time since I pulled an engine and last major foray was alternator removal on the cougar...anyone that knows this job has just dropped their keyboard and gotten down on their knees :)...involved y-pipe, tie rod, coil pack, wobbles and universals and many hours of inaccessible design stupidity. Hoping I'll take a break from working on cars for a while but always interested in simple mods. I noticed the tailgate theft prevention tip. I'll check that out when i get the truck. I'll mostly lurk for entertainment and be prepared when things start going wrong.

Near future I will probably get a Gator soft tonneau cover. If anyone has other recommendations, I am all eyes...but I am sure there are many posts about that so I'll
search for it at some point.

Thanks for what looks like a great forum. As I gain more experience, I hope to contribute.
    Phil
