without the sensors doing the manual (slam on your breaks in dirt/gravel) will not activate the abs. You’ll have to use the computer to have the abs bled.

@2004Taco do you have the ABS module in the engine bay? If so then the answer is Yes, regardless whether you disabled it or not.

Yes, everything is still in tack expect the sensor. What should I do with the ABS?

    Exactlyyyyy

if the abs doesn’t have a sensor because there’s no spot on the spindles, the abs must be activated by computer via scanner at dealership or select snap-on readers to get the possible air out of the abs module

So today I did an old school bleed job on the Tacoma. Soft pedal.
I then vacuum bled the system and the proportioning valve. I still have a soft pedal.
After all that I've done I took my Tacoma into my local mechanic and had the entire system checked. I STILL HAVE A SOFT PEDAL.
I asked about ABS to be scanned and he said that it only needs to be scanned if the pedal is vibrating, which it's not.

I don't know what else would be the issue.

Maybe take it into a brake specialist?

It’s not a abs scan. It’s a “manual” override to bleed the abs system. A purge if you will

well assuming you don’t have a leaking booster. And since you don’t have ur abs sensors you’re going to have to find someone with the computer that can tell the computer to run the abs cycle or go to the dealer

air trapped inside the lines or the abs system itself. Pulling the fuse would not help your situation. I know it sucks bud but it’s kinda where your at. If someone else knows something I don’t please chime in. But when I went through what you are...I had to activate the abs to get my pedal back

I'll have to find someone who can bleed the ABS system. Did you take your truck to the dealer?

No I just bled the truck. Took it out and found some wet leaves on the road and hammered the breaks and the abs kicked on. I came back home and bled again. The pedal got better after that. It wasn’t as stiff as stock but the truck stopped really hard and it was good enough

So the truck stops well but before I did the swap, I was able to lock up the tires on the dry assault. Now it doesn't. I still need to adjust the rear brakes. maybe that will help a little.

If you could could lock them up before and now you can’t then there’s something wrong

I found a brake specialist and I told him about my situation. He said he can to a "pressure bleed" and this should push any air out of the system. He also has the scan tool for the ABS. We'll see how that goes.
