I'm definitely leaning towards either a 265/70r17 ridge grappler or a 265/65r17 toyo open country at3

I had to look up TRD exhaust. I didn't know it was special.

My stock 4x4 SR came with the (ugh) smaller tires w/steel rims. Found these TRD Sport rims and wheels off a truck the guy was de-chroming and going knobby bigger.
They're 265/65 17s. Ride great, look great and the mileage is good.

what were you getting before with the stock steel wheels and smaller tires, versus the new aluminum wheels with bigger tires?

    @saltybum

    Truck looks great!

What size tires were previously on there?

Is there any rubbing in the front?

It has a nice rumble compared to stock exhaust without sounding anything like a fart can.

Not enough difference in those sizes to matter. My truck came with 265/70/16's, and I upgraded to 265/75/16's years ago. Absolutely no difference in performance or fuel mileage. The speedometer is actually more accurate with the bigger tires.

The overall dimensions of my tires are virtually identical to the 2 options you are considering. The only difference is the size of the hole in the middle.

A note about tire size. All tires get smaller as they wear down. If you upsize the new tires will be about 1" taller. By the time you replace them they will be the same diameter as your stock tires when they were new. Your speedometer is constantly changing as the tire gets smaller. It's just so gradual you don't notice.

dd light bars, trd cat back exhaust, KDMax tuned, trd skid plate, 2" lift, sema wheels toyo open country at3 tires.
look at the open country at3 in 265/70 r17 too. just understand you may have a bit of inner fender liner or mud flap rub with the 265/70 tires, unless you have an alignment and ask for the most caster you can get, to move the front tires forward, to give you more clearance, and or a 1-2" lift.

also, check the weight of the tires compared to what you have on there, and stock. if you dont offroad much, sticking to a lighter weight tire, will net you "better" mileage. I have the at3 on trd sema wheels on mine, they are really close to the weight of the stock A30's I use on the stock rims for winter driving. Ski

Thats why I had been looking at sticking to the stock size to save weight. The toyo has a better life expectancy and is snow rated and lighter. The ridge grappler doesn't have the same life expectancy and slightly heavier, but it darn sure looks good.

It’s a truck and won’t save you much on gas. 265/75/16s on mine with a lift. A few mpg either way does not matter much to me. I’m now getting 18 with Winter-blend gas mostly to and from town.

Do not forget about weight. I just ordered Hankook dynapro 265 75 16 @ 37lbs each. I ran my 10 ply 285 Falcons for a few weeks this summer before switching to a non-aggressive Grabber HTS 265 70 16. I thought I would hate the Grabbers but man what a ride and dam quite lost about 1 mpg over stock. Falcon are 57lbs and I lost 4-5 mpg over stock. I ended up going with Hankook over Falcon Rubi treks that came in at 43 lbs. Anyway, I now have dedicated winter, summer and play tires.

I also get that it's a truck I've had tucks the last 20 years anything that ranged from 8-20 mpg. The big thing is I want to save weight and mpg's as much as possible with retaining some style and function. The stock tires have great road manners and mpg but they don't wow me visually lol.

Well I ended up going in a completely different direction and just ordered a set of nitto terra grapplers in 265/70r17. They were the best overall compromise between performance, size, weight, and style. Should be on by Tuesday evening.

I think you will like them, so far I sure do. I cropped a pic to get the tires in good enough to see the tread and outline. They look agressive without being too over the top.
