Put everything that you want to keep cold in the cooler first, then fill with water and freeze everything in the chest freezer. Should last for days :)

Water in the cooler after melting is not an enemy. It can help keep things colder longer.
It's one of the tips on the proper use of the cooler. I know it is in the Yeti tips.

This is true. They say to never empty out water

Sure, but still, there are times, when longevity isn't all that important, and you just don't want a bunch of water on what you are keeping cool. With cans, plastic bottles, etc, no problem. I would never empty the water, unless I had a completely new ice supply. Then, I would empty the water and top off with fresh ice.

I keep the water, until I refill my containers. Just got to keep the water out of my cheese, or any thing else that drops down to the water. In the drink cooler, I leave the water, food cooler water needs to be contained.

Yeah, I use waterproof containers. Sometimes I use plastic wrap between the jar and the lid, like teflon tape on a pipe thread.
I also vacuum seal stuff before the trip.
Loose bags fit in the top tray well enough.

There used to be some stone... All consumed now. Didn't conserve well for day 2...

No I just mean I didn't save any of the beers lol. Ice is still in here in 100 degree desert.

I threw in a few warm water bottles before starting the day of off roading, an hour later I went to grab one... Frozen solid... Guess rock salt + empty space + shakiness doesn't mix well

I'll take an RTIC over a YETI anyday.

To my understanding, RTIC coolers were designed by the same bros that designed the YETI. Undeniably, ice lasts just as long in both (I've seen a few tests where RTIC has lasted slightly longer actually)

Besides, YETI products now do nothing but scream parent-funded-fratboy.

Cabela's Polar Cap® Equalizer Cooler was No 1?
I saw Cabela's in the store yesterday. Rugged looking.

I have to wonder why they didn't test the Coleman Marine coolers.

I have a cabelas 40qt. I needed a cooler for a week long trip and didnt have time to wait on delivery from RTIC. I have since bought a 65qt RTIC that I use for trips longer then 2-3 days. Both coolers work very well and are pretty comparable. I like the RTIC for long trips for storage space but still use the cabelas for shorter trips that I don't need to carry as much food and drinks. On the longer trips I use the cabelas for beer and the rtic for food and water. The RTIC was a much better buy for a larger cooler that cost almost half of my smaller cabelas.

Just bought an RTIC after reading all these posts. Should be in soon, I'll verify if all this juicy feedback is right!!
