The most confusing part. 0 posts.. on a post. He’s inside TW.

RTIC was taken to court by Yeti a few years ago for selling nearly identical coolers. Ironically, their design is now significantly better than Yeti’s (according to some reviews). They’re all overpriced.

I have a small Yeti that I got on sale at the PX :anonymous:

I remember reading somewhere where the Walmart_ brand (Ozark Trail) did better than the Yeti at keeping ice cold.

I still don't get the whole "I want/need a $300.00 cooler to keep my ice cold for a week when camping at the KOA". I understand there are a few places in the lower 48 where you cant get ice within a reasonable distance but for must people the Yeti cooler is just a status symbol.

B809AD41-F5F6-45B8-9D9A-071B86361AF9.jpg I got my Yeti tundra 65 last year through Craigslist for 180 dollars. The guy who I bought it from was also selling a Pelican 65 and it was tempting, but the biggest issue at the time was size cause it needed to fit in the trunk of my old car or my fiancée's car which is a little Toyota corolla.

It's done really well and at every stop on our road trips, it's earned a new sticker. So at this point, it's become too sentimental to sell. I definitely stand by their mugs and water bottles.

    I bought a 45qt and a 65qt Seavilis and I love them. The 65qt was only 250$, 45qt was 200$

I just got back from 6 nights of remote camping in Maine with the boat. I drained no more than a 1/2" of melt water from the two 3 gallon blocks of ice I had in my Tundra 75 when I finally got back home on Memorial Day late afternoon. I even had happy drink ice cubes for my whiskey drink on night number 6. Truly amazing performance from these roto molded coolers. I am used to the Igloo Marine coolers which are pretty good, but for a 6 night trip I usually had to bring dry ice to keep my happy drink ice cold.

Down fall is definitely that the thing loaded is easily 130 lbs or more.

So I will toss this out on an OLD thread.

    Looking for a GREAT "Cooler"......

Seems like all of the "high end" models are between RTIC, YETI, ENGEL.......I tossed out Pelican due to the upper area (had them in Afghaistan but they are not my need for the TACO)

So for a RECENT review..what do you all think?

Price is COMPARABLE between them all....

Yeti offers a discount to Military folks.......

I Have reached out to RTIC and ENGEL with no responses......

    So,

What do you like/dislike about the brands?

EDIT: So Engel, RTIC, YETI, KONG....all offer military discounts.

They are all within $50 between the sizes I am looking for. I have NOT experienced anyone with a Cabela's Polar yet. I have WAY too many Cabela bucks so looking forward to seeing a review on them.

They seem to be all the same.....

I have tried one "off brand" and it didn't perform.....

Price on the Cabelas one if you don't mind me asking?

I have the 40 qt one. I think they go for $250 brand new so comparable to the other name brand rotomolded coolers, but I got it online for $130. The dude used it once.

Yeah for military folks you might pay a slight difference but they seem to be VERY similar!

For me it all boils down to space in the TACO with the diamondback tonneau for us......

I called RTIC yesterday (along with ENGEL and YETI) for full disclosure...

RTIC was the BEST! Yeti and Engel did NOT reach out at all...after leaving a phone message to every company.

Will give them BOTH (you can call RTIC and get someone)....but pricing is comparable

    EDIT:

I should have updated this post! Just about every cooler manufacturer/distributor offers military and first responder discounts!

These folks do a good job of updating things weekly! Speaking with many brands this week, they all seem VERY comparable within $50 or so depending on sizes.

I always wanted to get a Yeti.
After reading through this thread, I'll have to look into the RTIC, Pelican and Cabela's.

They all work great to be honest. No need to spend the money on Yeti if you don't want.

We have an Orca cooler, works great. I really think out of the major brands, whichever nets the best deal and saves you the most money, is the best option. They all hold up and keep shit cold.
