I agree. Was completely unexpected, lol. Thankfully I had that harness built up, but I tried damn near everything I could to avoid going that route. It's not fun disassembling things at 5:30 in the morning.

There are probably still a lot of people on 04A70 and they had no reason to update since Magnuson doesn't require it.

In addition, for whatever reason, it seems less 2018 MT owners get forced induction. The only ones I know of are @JamesT (OV TT customer), this individual who commented here this morning, and the one Stryker customer I have who has the 2018 MT.

All are or were 04A70 originally from what I know.

In addition, this A72 bricking bug is actually not new. @Kevinpd325 and @ktbell444 discovered it and reported it many months ago to Mat with no reported resolution or follow up until very recently. Beyond that, it's just all speculation.

So with Magnuson not requiring that people update, the fact that there are less MTs on the road than ATs, and then even fewer people buy aftermarket superchargers, and YotaWerx only recently released the Stryker tune and requires ECU update, it makes sense that this would fly under the radar.

Not fun at all. I'm still a virgin there. Never had a soft brick or anything worse than a comms error. Thankfully I have the 2LM, so I know how to at least get in there.

I have four 04A71 folks. None since the 04A72 TP was released. This is an EROM thing only, right?

    Yeah. non-EROM is functional.

The 04A72 Stryker customer confirmed too that he can flash back to stock A72 and the dead pedal goes away.

That is a very rarified group, like you said. Still sucks though.

Magnuson sent me a new 04A72 tune yesterday. They must have gotten it figured out. Still looking for someone to update my ecu from 04A70 so I can use it though.

That’s only a 27 hour drive. My supercharger nose drive would fail again by then lol.

    Just up the road!

27hr TBO? I wouldn't think so. They S/C seems pretty robust and understressed in our application?

I'd be very cautious. I'm the 04A70 -> 04A72 customer that @mZiggy mentioned. Initial 04A72 Magnuson tune bricked my ECU and needed a bench recovery. After some back and forth with OV, I was finally able to flash and start my truck, but dead pedal. Yesterday's updated tune from Magnuson did not fix the issue for me. My truck has been disabled for over 2 weeks now....

I’ve had two nose drive “failures” in as many years. Probably just a fluke. They just get noisy like a can of marbles not a catastrophic failure or anything.

Good to know. I’ll ask for a new file again once they figure it out.
Maybe Yotawerx can make us a 04A70 SC tune in the mean time :p I would whip out my wallet real quick lol.

It's definitely crossed my mind but I figured it would be quite unfair to @mkivsoopra after requiring him to update.

Good things come to those who are willing to wait. The wait will be worth it. Pretty sure all of us who are enjoying the Stryker Tune would not want to go back to the manufacturer's stock tune. Hope Mat (VFT) gets the true fix soon so Marc @mZiggy can provide you the amazing driving pleasure the rest of us are enjoying.

How long to activate my OVTune dongle to a VFTuner dongle once I email OV?

Could you go back to the old ecu and reload the maggy tune in the meantime?

Is everyone aware that Mat is charging OVTune customers $80 to make their dongles work? VFTuner upgrade? WTF more like extortion
