You can kind of see a drop or two near the oil spacer too. Were you able to get a wrench in there without removing a bunch of stuff?

    that’s a tight space.

Yeah, I think I used a couple extensions to snake in there. It's been over a year since I've installed it, can't totally remember.

    Hey all,

Been out of it and not too active the past few days while I recover from covid.

I wanted to post an update though WRT the 87mm pulley Stryker tune:

On Saturday, @SK808 ran the 87mm test tune on the dyno and the dynograph is posted below. Since Magnuson doesn't provide a separate tune for the smaller pulley and due to time constraints preventing pulley swaps while strapped down, just the YW tune was run on the dyno.

Ambient temp was 90F, which is obviously not friendly for boost. His truck has 33" tires for those who are curious as well. Between that and pushing the limits of the stock fuel system, I'd say it's not surprising that the smaller pulley tune made *only * these numbers. Particularly after we pushed the fueling as far as we did with the 90mm pulley tune.

I am sure though that the numbers would be more favorable in cooler temps, as would be expected.

A key takeaway from this dynograph is a demonstration of consistent smooth power delivery between this tune and the 90mm pulley tune (see 90mm pulley dynograph for reference). The smaller pulley also yields higher levels of boost quicker, and sooner in the rpm band.

Prior to release there's a couple things I'd like to iron out on the 87mm pulley tune but it'll get released soon.

What was the max boost seen on that run? Just curious.

Reading through the instructions around techstream, is there a reason to do any updates prior to flashing with the tune? Anytime anyone does anything using techstream they have to flash the ecu back to a "stock" image then after changing they reflash with the tune?

What's everyone seeing on fuel consumption between SC and no SC? And Maggy vs YW tune?

Completely depends on how I drive it. Right now I've been babying it and I'm getting 18.8 according to the computer. Which is better than the Maggie tune, but not better than N\A. I also have E load tires 1 inch bigger than stock and an extremely mild lift.

You should be on the latest ECU ID for your year\trans combo, which requires you to not be on the Maggie tune since it's the version with the V (I'm blanking on what that means right now, just know it doesn't work). The only reason you'd have to flash back to stock from the Maggie tune is if you wanted to flash another tune that wasn't the new version with the V in front of the name or you wanted to update your ECU ID to the latest version. You can flash straight from Maggie to YW if you're already up to date since the YW tune has the V, that's what I did and it worked as advertised.

Totally stock truck, AT, rarely saw 20, often 17-19; SC with YW tune, Spec-U exhaust and mechanical fan delete often 20, sometimes 21 likes running all back roads, hilly and tight turns, mildly aggressive, often 60MPH. Then Highway 20-21, empty with tonnuau cover sealed, but return trip 18, with 300# cargo, and the tonnau flipped up against the cab. I was surprised how different it drove with that slight load, and the slight additional drag of the vertical tonnau. Just that little drag, had the boost bouncing between 1-2psi at 75mph for the slightest of incline, and the AFR would hover about 13. Empty with the lid closed, same speed same hills, AFR stays pretty consistently at 14.5.

I noticed that the Cruise often hunts for the speed, not enough to see in the speedo, but you feel it almost constant. Sort of makes sense as the cruise was designed for a gutless big, and so the new throttle response is messing with it. Thought maybe this hunting was causing the richer mixtures, so drove a long ways without the cruise, and even with a steady foot, the truck did not like this particular load; holding 76mph, took alot of pedal movement, for the hills, and it often downshifted, with the boost never exceeding 2psi. Is this normal? Almost makes me wonder if I have something wrong. Going to look it over, check the bypass.

The cruise control thing is something I worked on heavily with @Freerdr17 and was never 100% ironed out. Maybe like 90-95%. It seemed like this was isolated to 2021-22 model years but since you have a 2020, I guess those are included. Anyway, I had to try to find a balance between the truck doing a "surge" of sorts at certain speeds versus nerfing throttle response altogether. In the end, with so many variables coming into play such as terrain and load (vehicle weight as a secondary subset of this) and actual speed, I never found a perfect solution and had to make some compromises.

If you're experiencing what I'm talking about, I know about it, but it seems very isolated to specific model years.

Increased throttle response was/is one of the factors and something we played around with at great lengths to try to solve the problem but really only were able to mitigate it.

Downshifting however, is a different scenario.

mZiggy; if your cruise landed at only 95% worked out, then Toyota's cruise maybe was 50%. At least now it does a nice job of holding speed, without constant shifting. And YW has yet to Over speed on Cruise, where the stock tune would regularly downshift twice to find some throttle response, then overshoot the target, back off and repeat.

The real surprise to me was how that little change to load and aerodynamics, makes the truck drive totally different; I imagine this is similar with tire changes and gearing too. Different trucks may well have very different experience with the truck.

I am very interested in testing towing a trailer, but have not. Should mention that I am only about 500 miles into this tune. I also must confess, that I never reset the two learning things either. When I was within a day or two of being finished with the build, I decided to load the tune, and make sure it loaded; in case i needed help, I didn't wait till the last day. But without oil or coolant in the motor, I could not start the truck when prompted; and forgot all about hooking up and clearing the learning. For what it is worth, it had only been about 300miles since loading 04B82, and I cleared what I could with Techstream at that time. From what I had read during the cooperative training days of ovTune, it seems that is OK that i have not cleared the learning. Let me know if you feel strongly otherwise.

LOVE this SC and YW tune on the back roads, and city driving!! Highway, is improved, but off-highway is dramatic!!

Dang! All you guys getting 17, 18, 20mpg that’s wild. I’m in the minority here as my aerodynamic is heavily affected with the camper, armor and bigger tires, but I don’t think I got that even from day 1. o_O

My current setup before SC I was getting 13ish city 14-15 highway. And that’s with keeping a close eye on mpg.

I’ll need to run the tank a few times to really get a good grasp on how is doing with the SC.

If this is your first time flashing then you should have had enough to credit your vehicle. Assuming you didn't burn them on another vehicle, then you'd need to submit a ticket to vF Tuner to get the necessary credits. Make sure to give vehicle info, as not all vehicles require the same number of credits.

That's something I'd submit a Zendesk ticket about. Magnuson customers should have their vins registered already since VF would be needed to flash the Maggy tune.
