When you got the magSC, the VFTuner software and tactrix device and cable were part of the purchase. You can use VFTuner to flash the YotaWerx tune to your truck. YW provides helpful tune guide supplement documents to assist with various things like basic flash procedure, steps to take to avoid bricking your ecu, ecu recovery procedures, sources for obtaining Toyota Techstream, etc, as well as notes for the Stryker FI tune. I think anyone here can attest to how detailed the documents are.

YW only supports the most up to date ECU ID's, so you will need to update your ECU ID to 04A72 via Toyota Techstream. There's a very help ECU TSB Update thread here on TacomaWorld (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ecu-tsb-update.562550/) where you can get TIS to do the update yourself. In addition, YotaWerx has a networked tuner in Houston (@Mcbelen / MCB Auto Tech) who can assist if needed with TSB update and/or Stryker tune flash).

Since you will need to update to 04A72, I recommend reaching out to Magnuson to obtain the appropriate tune for your truck for the updated ECU CAL. May as well have it since you paid for it and all that.

With regards to ordering the tune, please reach out to yotawerxtuning@gmail.com with vehicle info (VIN, model year, transmission, and applicable mods for tune editing [in your case, just AGM]), and we will send you our waiver to fill out and return to us.

Following some additional testing, we are moving forward with altered transmission logic for the Stryker tunes for trucks with 5.29 gears. If you are a Stryker customer with 529 gears, you can just reach out to us to get the updated tune pack.

We also have someone reviewing some reduced tip-in on the AT side, but I wouldn't mind a few more people testing/reviewing. Please already be of the opinion that tip-in needs to be reduced, as that will help quite a bit compared to someone who is happy with their Stryker tune as-is lol

If so, please reply to the email that was sent to you with your Stryker tune purchase. Thank you everyone for the continued support.

Just sent an email to get the updated tune pack. Can you share more details on what and why is changing for 5.29 gears? Just curious.

Around 20-25mph or so and 35-40, there can be an odd up/downshift dance as it shifts early and then realizes it needs to still be in the powerband and tries to correct itself.

We had another Stryker customer with 529's reach out to us to let us know this was happening, and so we gave him a test tune using 5.29 shift logic from the Blackhawk tune, tweaked a little bit for use in the FI tune, and he reported immediately that it was fixed and he couldn't replicate the scenarios with the odd shifting and that it was staying in the powerband properly.

So we'll be implementing it into the Stryker tunes for 529 customers. Shift points and torque converter settings.

you may want to look into the 4.88's too as the condition described seems to happen with the current 488 stryker tune. I always thought it was tip-in being a little too aggressive - but maybe related to the issue/solution you note for 529's. Worth quick glance to compare MAPs to see.

Shift points for stock gears typically work quite well with 488's, but it could be TC settings. A quicker test would be to test a more relaxed tip in. I'll send you a file to try out, and then we can move forward from there.

    REVIEW FOR THE TUNES
(@mZiggy I know you are waiting for this one)

STORY: I've been always a Toyota fan since I was young all my cars in the Philippines are Toyota. Specifically the Toyota PICKUP (HILUX for asian name) 5th gen and 8th gen all are DIESEL. I own a shop in the Philippines and tuned cars as well using KESS. (Its a straight soldering to the board of an ecm just to tune it). Came here to the United States and yeah, I work an 8-5 job for a dealership being one of their master technicians. Bought a Tacoma, love the looks but hate how it runs. So I read some forums and saw about this tuning. Spending thousands. I TRIED THEM ALL. Working at a dealership, I saw lots of cars being tuned outside and coming in with a F*CK*D UP engine because of it. So I need to search for the BEST tune I can get for my own. I tried KD (KD MAX PRO, KD MAX PRO+, KD MAX PRO+ XT), VALLEY RUNNER, NEXUS. I can't say something bad about other tunes, they are all GOOD. You can even see that I gave a good review for them. But here is my review for the BLACKHAWK TUNE:

    1. Blackhawk Regular OL

    - Lighter Side of Everything
    - Less Aggressive Throttle
    - A/F Mixture always close to 1
    - No DEAD SPOT at any RPMS compared to stock
    - I was able to get a MAX of 17 MPG
    - Great for NO MODS, EVERYDAY TRUCK and The ones that just want to improve the MPG and shifting far from stock.

    2. Blackhawk Premium AD
    - PERFORMANCE TUNE

    - Massive and Dramatic Power and Torque Increase
    - Really Aggresive Throttle
    - A/F MIXTURE always close to 1
    - Less Downshifting if you need to overtake cars coz of the TORQUE that this tune brings out ( I only use 5th and 6th Highway)
    - Max MPG at 20.*
    - I Find this is great for semi modified engine like if you have an intake or exhaust mod. (This tune has the best compensation of the TRD PRO factory exhaust and a drop in filter)

    3. Blackhawk Premium WW
    - Almost thesame as the AD. This just have a less aggressive throttle for the drivers that finds the AD too much aggressive for them.
    - 18 mpg

ALL TUNES WERE GIVEN 500+ MILES EACH. I Personally SCRUTINIZE engine data through TECHSTREAM to see how each tune performs.

Find the tune that would fit your driving habit. I find the BLACKHAWK AD perfectly matched mine, as you can see I got the most MPG on that tune. Not becuase they say that the tune is like this and like that meaning you would have the same outcome. "IT DEPENDS ON THE TRUCK and THE WAY YOU DRIVE" Everything should match up for you to get the best outcome.

After trying many tunes, I found the BEST. It even made me decide to join the YW tuning network. 20220606_065003.jpg 20220613_064315.jpg

Just emptied my catch cans. I have dual RXP cans. About 700 miles on twin turbos with 5w30 oil. This is what came out for reference. Contaminated oil and water. About 3 tablespoons. The dirt was already in the can.

Nothing came out of my breather side.

Yeah the factory 0w20 is super thin and burns off faster. I would average a loss of a quart of oil every oil change, and that was n/a. Boosted is worse, and my understanding is you guys keep using 0w20 with the supercharger.

It varies from truck to truck and climate. I live in a very very humid area.

0w20 with SC I see less than 2 oz every 5k miles. I check catch can every 1k miles or after each towing experience. No water - only oil.

Is there anyone in Portland, Oregon in the YWT network?

I purchased the Stryker tune on launch day but I still haven’t tried it yet.
